Great little dog park, but prone towards muddiness. Bring a damp towel to wipe your dog and your own feet if it's been rainy. There are persistently muddy areas, so be prepared.
Pros: separate areas for smaller and larger dogs; water provided in warmer weather; kept clean by dog owners and the Township; the dogs are accompanied by nice, friendly, responsible humans; plenty of parking; the Township provides poop bags for those of us who run out; and seating is provided . Cons: mud - it's in a low-lying area and stays damp long after rain; can be dusty when the mud dries; the fence has a few gaps here and there where a very small dog might be able to wriggle through; no bathroom facilities for humans; and no way to clean mud/dirt once up in the parking lot.
The Township (or someone) occasionally puts straw down in the muddiest areas, which certainly helps, as well as new grass seed, but the whole park, not just the entry area, could use a layer of sand to increase drainage. The new gate and small addition on the side towards the new houses is welcome, but the gate was malfunctioning the last time I was there.
I really like this little dog park and I'm delighted that we have it. It is well-used by residents and we all seem to appreciate the care that goes into it.
And thanks to the users who clean up after their dogs and to the admin of the (unofficial) Violet Township Dog Park Facebook page where we can post mud reports and residents can learn...

I was in the area with my dogs on a short trip, and didn't expect to stop so I didn't have bags. The park has quite a few stands with rolls of bags in them, and they were sturdy bags!
The park has 3 sections- one larger side for general use, one small dog only section, then one the locals apparently call "Alcatraz" as it is set aside for dogs that don't get along well with others. It seems to be generally accepted that it is a "one family at a time" situation.
While there were a few spots where it was muddy, the park was generally well tended and clean. There are large open areas for running, a pavilion with chairs for shade and resting while the dogs play, and a few trees and such to make this a nice looking park.
The back side does neighbor up to the back of residential properties, but it isn't problematic.
The parking lot is in the rear of a government maintenance building. Maps doesn't recognize the entrance on Center, so it may guide you to go in the main drive of the maintenance building, but you can access off of Center...
Read moreWe've not taken our dogs there but I babysit my granddaughters and the dog park is on the way there so I sometimes stop and watch the dogs that are there.
I always see the owners picking up the poop that their dog just dropped. They whole park is fenced in and within the area they have a fenced in area just for small doggies. It's a pretty good size area too, and the small doggies have plenty of room to run and meet new and old friends.
I enjoy watching the dogs run and play. I have 2 yorkies and I don't take them to parks, we let them play with my sons Bull Mastiff and Rottweiler mix, that's always fun to watch.
They have a water fountain there that you can get water for your puppies.
Anyways, the park gets plenty of dogs so all those people must like it and I usually see many of the same people there, this tells me that it must be a good place too that's why...
