This place looks awesome and is very clean thus the five stars.
They have a dog park that separates big dogs from small dogs (under 30 lbs) which is a great idea. The small dog park is big and grassy, the big dog park that was open at the time was sand...stuff (not a bad thing, I just don't know how to describe it) and I think there is another one with grass but it wasn't open. Anyhow, this is meant to reach people who bring there dogs to dog parks. It's a social setting and yes, dogs are pack animals. So before going, consider training them properly and see how they handle other dogs. If your dog is "assertive", likes to "show their dominance", is "vocal when playing" what you REALLY mean to say is...My dog is going to bite your dog, bark a lot and probably shouldn't be off his leash in public. If you can't train your dog, and I get that some have instincts that they can't control, don't take them to a dog park. It's irresponsible and unfair to those of us who have dogs who are trained to not bite, hump and attack other dogs because he wants to be the Alpha. These dogs require responsible owners, and that may mean not bringing them out with other dogs. It doesn't mean they are bad, they are who they are. It's up to the owner to understand that and act accordingly.
My dog was running around having some fun (50 lb Aussie, 1 year old) until a German Shepard decided to chase, bite and try to hump him. My dog can stand his own but it gets old after ten minutes of the German Shepard attacking him and not listening to his owner. Get your dog out of there or on a leash. Don't ruin it for others, and don't try to lecture me on dogs behavioral habits. Your dog is aggressive and you can't control him. The second time it happened, the German Shepard got held down by me while his owner yelled his name from 10 yards away. We then took our dog and went home as to stop the confrontation and avoid any injury.
In short, great park, great dog park, beware of idiots who can't control their...
Read moreSo I will start off saying the park itself is beautiful and very well taken care of and clean. I go for the dog park and I went for the first time about a week ago. Had a great time, was there for 2 hours my fur baby had a blast. He's 22lbs so he was in the smaller section. I went back today and only one section was open so alot of different sized dogs were there in one section , the other 2 were locked. Which is fine my little guy can play with any size he is extremely friendly and playful and he was having a good time. There was probably about 10 dogs there in total and we were there for about 15 mins and out of no where all of the dogs started chasing my dog around and he got trampled( very normal in dog play) he didn't get hurt but there were so many dogs around him and after him it scared him and he started yelping. Am the dogs surrounded him ( which freaked him out more )and Out of all the people there there was ONE guy who made an effort to help me break it up so I could get my dog. That was very infuriating. Especially because Some of the dogs were snapping at mine most likely out of playfulness. But I was very unhappy at the other people. Not only were they not really friendly , but everyone just watched me and my friend struggle with this situation and clearly had no interest in controlling THEIR dog. This has nothing to do with the park but everything to do with the people. The park is great if it wasn't for this experience I'd recommend it. I understand dogs get rough and horseplay but my neighbor had the SAME exact situation happen to her the other day. So I'm pretty upset about it BUT the park itself I give a 10/10. The people,...
Read moreWhere do I begin? Should I mention the beautiful park and trails? Or the well kept volleyball courts (2) adjacent to the full basketball courts (3). This place makes me want to learn how to play tennis each time I see people of all ages enjoying the game on the courts here. My church had our picnic here, we scheduled a little too late to reserve one of the paved shelters that has about 10-12 tables and double community grills. But right beside the shelters are picnic tables and community grills. I brought my own grill but the park's are large and convenient. The park employees consistently ride through the park emptying trash and recycling bins which was really refreshing and so was the cleanliness of the men's restrooms. It all helped motivate us even more to be sure to leave the place as clean as we found it! For the next picnic we'll reserve the shelter just for the convenient seating and space, and we'll have a game of kickball on the diamond across from the tennis courts. Yes, this...
