Such a neat little historic place, in Newport News about a 1/2 hour from Williamsburg. It was great seeing a historical home that has been so preserved, and is still a pillar in the community in the legacy of Mr. Newsome. The tour guide was so knowledgeable and friendly, we learned and laughed all throughout our tour. Plan for maybe 45 minutes or so. There is no "set" admission fee, but they do suggest a $2 donation, which was worth it in...

We've been touring various areas of the city lately and saw the sign for this place on the interstate and added it to the must-see list.

What a well-cared for, beautiful home! The docent was very knowledgeable about the family, home, and community events. They have furniture original to the family, more than we've seen locally or indeed regionally.

Wow! I am so glad that I came. The preservation of this house was amazing. If have never been definitely go. The house is also available for displaying artwork, meetings and many other things. The owner of the house has a deep rooted history in Newport News. Very close to the Downing Gross Cultural Center. Free admission with a $2 donation...
