This is a MUST DO at the Jersey Shore this holiday season if you got a little one who 1. Loves Santa & 2. Loves trains. Added bonus is you can bring the whole family and go buy dinner after for cheaper than one ticket on the Polar Express up in North Jersey. Is it spectacular? Probably not. It’s fun. It’s historic feeling. It’s quick and it’s easy. The Pine Creek Railroad with Santa runs from Thanksgiving weekend to Christmas. Tickets are only available at the Pine Creek Railroad itself. Trains run every 30 minutes and you can reserve a ticket by buying one at the ticket booth before the date. There’s so much to see and do each week at Allaire State Park so even if you have to wait a few trains because you bought the same day, there will be plenty of things to do to kill time. Pine Creek Railroad is a museum operating at Allaire State Park. Take a walk through Historic Allaire Village, walk and get lost in the paths, find ponds and creeks and explore all that Allaire State Park has to offer. #monmouthcounty #newjersey #jerseyshore #christmas #holidays

I rode the train here on a very hot day and it was still a very enjoyable experience. The ride is ~20 minutes and does two laps around the tracks. It seems to be scheduled to leave twice and hour on the half hour so if you dont have tickets in advance come before :00 or :30. Tickets cost $6/person. I thought the price was reasonable even though it’s a short ride because the train is over 100 years old and relies on volunteers for maintenance. The ride is really loud and you can’t hear most of what the man on the loudspeaker is saying when he’s talking about the history but honestly I wasn’t listening anyway.

It’s NOT open in the winter. Will return again in April. They should definitely have that announcement on their website and here! We went this weekend, on a sunny, warm Sunday, and were disappointed, but the worst was the little boy and his dad who were there - and, as we walked by, the boy said ā€œDad! We came here for NOTHING!ā€ šŸ™

I try ta go at least once a year! Been awhile, wanted ta ride the Halloween train, missed it, just couldn't make it. All my trips were excellent though! But I do miss the steam engines. I do know that the only way they'll run is if a millionaire donated a bunch ta fix em! But only us local Jersey people care about the place, not much money around here. Still an...
