This was the most incredible experience we’ve ever had wine tasting! Why? Because of the way they made us FEEL! It was unbelievable…we showed up unannounced for a tasting snd they were kind enough to let us in because they weren’t overwhelmed at the moment. By the time we were parking, about one minute later, a Emily Kiefer came out to greet us with a glass of bubbly (if I recall). We were so taken back! I’ve never had that happen before. We were barely out of the car! Then she explained we could sit anywhere we’d like and said they have no fee for tastings, and that there will be complimentary food by Chefs Ian Williams and Kyle Daniel on pairing food with wine. Huh? What?! Who does this? That’s right, complimentary! And…it was DELICIOUS! I couldn’t believe it! All they request in return is if you like the wine, make a purchase and take it home. Well, when you have a class act business like this who makes you feel like a million bucks…I’ll hand over all my money! We bought several bottles of wine to enjoy later and walked away very happy purchasers. It’s about time that a company doesn’t make you feel nickel and dimed! Well done Caprio! It was amazing and we’ll be back! In fact, as a new Tour Operator, if I do decide to create a tour to Walla Walla eventually, I’ll be taking my guests here for sure! Thanks for the phenomenal experience! And by the way, we...
Read moreMy husband and I visited Walla Walla in early March. We have been to Walla Walla many times and have visited many of the wineries there. I read a bunch of reviews before we chose which winery to visit. I was impressed with the stellar reviews from Caprio Cellars, so we decided to try them out. WOW!! So glad we chose Caprio! From the moment you arrive at their beautiful winery, you are swept away into an outstanding first class experience. We were greeted by Linda, with two glasses of bubbly. She had a nice spot for us to sit outside, overlooking the beautiful rolling hills. There is so much thought and attention to detail that Caprio gives to the customer experience. Linda was so knowledgeable about wine and the intricacies of how it is made. She took her time telling us stories about how Caprio cellars came about, their connection to Italy, and the lovely grandma Eleanor! Each wine taste comes with a carefully crafted small plate of gourmet food that was homemade at the Cellar. I have visited many wineries around the world, and I would say this was one of my top experiences ever, and the wine was spectacular! We even joined their wine club, which I have never done before. By the end of this experience, you will fall in love with Eleanor and...
Read moreMost wineries are beautifully appointed, with serene and pleasing views. About half of the wineries you taste at will have someone who helps to teach you about the wine, some will even give you the origin story of why the winery or a bottle is named as it is. But some wineries actually make the whole experience different - and that was what Caprio Cellars (and Linda) did for us. Caprio takes the unique approach of pairing their tastings with small plates/bowls of food. This allows the taster to experience not just the wine alone, but how it can be used to augment and embellish the food with which it is paired. The wines we tasted were all pleasing, though I will always remember this visit for the absolutely astounding Cauliflower Bisque made by Ian on 11/11. AMAZING! I know - you aren't supposed to go to a winery and fall in love with the soup. But I can't help it. The grounds are beautiful, the Red Golden Retriever welcome set a great tone, and Linda made our experience so much better by telling us about the winery, the wine, the food, and just being a wonderful host. Make your reservations and make this a place to stop when you visit Walla Walla wineries. It will...
