I really wanted to like this vinyard, but I was really surprised (in a bad way) by the place. We had lunch reservations set up, which normally means you are guaranteed a table and usually get a lot of good information during your tasting. Unfortunately that did not happen for us. Immediately when we walked in, we found the place to be standing-room only. It was stuffed to the gills with people, and we didn't have a table reserved for us. The poor servers were madly scrambling to try to serve everyone to the point where I wondered why they bothered pretending to have a reservation system. While we stood there waiting, 3 massive tour busses showed up and just kept pumping people into the tiny room.
We finally got seated next to other people at the same table, then the servers hastily gave us our first pours, gave almost no information, then disappeared. We had to wait a very long time between pours, and each time was a different very-stressed person would give us our next pour. For the very first time EVER, I gave up on a winery and just got up and paid before finishing our flight tasting. The staff didn't even realize we didn't finish (I am not angry about paying, it was my decision to leave before finishing, just pointing out how horribly over-stretched they were).
The whole experience was disappointing. I will not be returning and I deeply regret not getting lunch...
Read moreWe had such a wonderful experience at Patterson Cellars yesterday. There were 8 of us in our group and Peter was an incredible host. He was kind and engaging in his service and was very knowledgeable about the wines. Patterson offers a wide range of varietals so there is something for everyone. The port and chocolate pairing at the end is remarkable! So unique and delicious! The tasting room and surrounding vineyards are lovely. We enjoyed variety of different wines and took home a mixed case. Thank you Peter for a fantastic experience-it was our favorite winery of the...
Read moreDO NOT PASS up a visit to Patterson Cellars, no matter what tasting room you choose. My husband and I have been members of Patterson Cellars for years. We have watched the winery grow from the tasting room in the Warehouse District in Woodinville to the move of the production to Walla Walla. We recently visited the Walla Walla facility. It was exciting to see the vines, the production area and see John (owner/wine maker) is in his element. His wine is worth the visit. Check out the website before you go for wine and food...
