As others have said, this is a great loop and some fantastic singletrack you can find just a half hour outside the city. From the point of view of a non-spandex wearing, single track loving dad, this was a ton of fun and a refreshingly gnarly trail, with lots of rocks, technical sections, a couple bridges, and a stream crossing.
This connects to a longer portion of the loop just northwest, but this section was about 4ish miles and had some good climbs, but nothing crazy. There were some steep, rocky moments that I was grateful for my full suspension bike, but this should be passible on a hardtail with wide tires. I would not attempt this on a gravel bike and a hybrid would not be a pleasant ride.
The singletrack starts on the north end of the park and loops back around to the east side of the park. A couple laps here makes for a decent ride, and I would gladly do it again! Or, connect to the 8 mile loop north of here (which is tamer but still fun) for an epic journey.
This southern loop, called the touchstone loop I believe, was rocky enough to make me wish I had kneepads, but it wasn't too crazy. I would bring my friends with mtb experience here, but not new riders or youngins.
Shoutout to the trail authority that built and maintains this, it was a great ride for this...
Read moreIf you're looking for a more laid back trail experience, the Bedford loops are right up your alley. A mostly flat singletrack that weaves through an extremely scenic portion of the Bedford Reservation, you'll cross paved portions of hiking trails and some wider equestrian trails. Very beginner friendly with the exception of some steam crossings, slick leafy areas, and an abundance of thick roots. If you're looking for a little more advanced trail, head to the Dunham Road parking lot and hit the Touchstone Loop. While still mostly flat, the trail offers some climbs, quite a few bridges, and a little more flow than the rest of the trails in the area. I found the trails extremely beautiful...
Read moreThis is one of my favorite reservations in the whole emerald necklace..... It's clean, well-maintained and has so many lovely spots to just relax and enjoy your time in nature. The surrounding suburbs are well to do, so the people you meet on the trails and in the picnic areas are usually friendly and pleasant to talk to. I recommend the trails in oakwood village if you like to bike... And the the trails in Bedford if you're more into...
