Been coming to the Hemlock Picnic Area part of the park all my life and it’s always been a pretty special place for me filled with many beautiful memories. This summer though the park has taken draconian measures to prevent the “overuse” of the park, installing ambiguous road closures on Button Rd and entrapping people trying to drop their picnicking equipment off near the closed bridge leading to the parking lot with $200 tickets. There’s clearly marked signs stating “no parking on grass,” and that would be the sensible place to start to combat the “overuse” issue. Most of the areas you can just park beside and spend a 3 minute walk to get to their view, which isn't enjoyable in the slightest. Why tear down forest and pave over it, why not enjoy nature a bit and have people walk there?
If you're looking to go on a hike, go to another part of Cuyahoga national Park, as there are really great hikes there and they're better maintained.
If you need accessible walks but don't want to walk in town, this is much...
