The falls are gorgeous, the paved trails are well maintained. While walking on the trail to view the falls, i was pleasantly surprised to see that there was more than one lookout point. I would post more of the pictures that I took, but my kids are in most of the pictures, and I don’t want pervs looking at pictures of my kids.

There are signs posted throughout the paved trail educating about local flora and fauna. There are outdoor bathroom facilities throughout the area. The visitor center has no running water but they do offer bottled water at a reasonable price.

There is a room of skinned animals that we thought was very educational and cool. Others who are animal rights inclined will probably dart out crying about the cruelty to the local spiders, stink bugs, and bears.

In the parking upper parking lot is a nature trail head that connect the upper falls to the lower falls. We did not do this but are determined to go again and try the trail out. Overall, well worth the drive, miles, and screaming kids...

$5 exact cash self-pay parking. Have to put money in an envelope and deposit it into a drop box and put a tag on your car. There is limited parking so if going during a holiday or weekend plan accordingly. Visitors center is open from 9:30-5:30 during summer, winter hours very and are pretty limited because they do not plow the road all year that leads to the visitor center turn off. Inside is a short history of the area and some information on local wildlife. It is a nice paved slow decline down to the lower falls that eventually turns into a boardwalk near the falls. There are some stair sections. We went with kids and a 6-month preggo and everyone did it fine with pacing. 2 private bathrooms at the beginning of the trail. Great place to visit with family, friends, anyone really. You get as close as you can to the falls without actually going over them. It is a very well made and maintained area. We are locals who visit the falls 2-3...

Beautiful quick stop along the Mesa scenic Byway. There is a fee but with an America the Beautiful park pass that fee is waived. Nice small historic lodge turned visitors center with interpretive hands-on displays and helpful literature. Gorgeous Falls. Lots of mosquitoes. Believe what others tell you about them. It's true but well worth it. When we were there during the morning hours there was a gorgeous rainbow kissing the falls. Also a pair of nesting Osprey across the river and a marmot sharing the overlook with us. There is a 2.5 mi round trip (total distance out and back) nature trail that leads to the lower falls that looks like it would be worth the additional time assuming you have a decent amount of bug spray. Enjoy! It was a great spot for us to stretch our legs on the journey between Bozeman...

Mesa Falls is a great place to go if you haven’t been. There are stairs and ramps that lead to a lookout over the falls. There are great picture opportunities here also, it’s a great place to observe and reflect. Parking costs five dollars. If it’s on the weekend there may be a worker there to take your money, otherwise you’ll have to put your money in an envelope and grab a stub for your car. However, if you have the State parks pass sticker then you’re exempt from the five dollar fee. On the weekends it can get pretty busy but overall this nice scenic spot.
