Nice, lightly-used trail tucked away near the waterfront in Warren. It’s pretty remarkable to think someone was able to use this land for farming. The area is very marshy, especially as you approach the coast. Many bird, insect, and plant species inhabit the area. A lot of the plants I’ve never seen anywhere else in RI. I also saw a few birds of prey circling overhead which was cool, and at the end of the orange trail there were a ton of what I believe were cicada nests. I even saw one, whatever it was it looked like a huge beetle and there were a ton of holes in the ground near it. This trail is close to a lot of commercial, residential, and even industrial buildings, but once you get into the forest you feel 100 miles away from civilization.

Unfortunately, about half of the trails are temporarily closed at the moment (to allow ospreys to establish nests). I would still give it 5 stars if the coloring on the trail markers wasn’t so bad. The orange trail marker was red, which could be really confusing considering there’s already a red trail, and the brown trail was marked with a light blue arrow. There are also a lot of flimsy wooden planks meant to be used as boardwalks over some of the marshy areas. They aren’t in great shape though, so it can be a bit nerve wracking walking over some of the deeper ponds. There are also a TON of ticks in the area, so wear boots and bring bug spray!

All in all, a great trail system that does a great job of preserving the natural environment of the area. Would recommend to all nature lovers who don’t get squeamish...

I live near the Haile Farm Preserve but had never visited before and I can't believe how beautiful it was. I went early in the morning and I was the only one there. The paths have had a lot of work done on them this year to improve them with new wooden bridges over swampy areas. I saw a lot of birds, mushrooms and very beautiful vistas of the Palmer River. This would be a great place to take kids--but be sure to bring a lot of bug spray because...

Short trails, beautiful scenery, a great reminder to protect our wilderness! Trail can be hard to find. If you’re having trouble put in the JADE plastic company...

Nice little oasis in the industry. Great water views and easy hikes. Trail is narrow in places but pet friendly.
