Had dinner here last night with my daughter...first time based on all of the terrific reviews. Wow, what a disappointment! The service was really quite good....well trained staff was very attentive and helpful. Then the food...not so good. We started with sharing an order of fried calamari in what was supposed to be mozambique sauce. The calamari was overcooked....resembling rubber bands and the sauce tasted like it came from a jar. Not a great start. I ordered the crabmeat stuffed flounder oscar. This was not very good at all....I could find no evidence of any crab in the stuffing which was little more than a gooey mush of bread and breadcrumbs. The stuffed fish was topped with what was anything but a chef prepared sauce and the worst part was the bits of previously frozen asparagus which was little pieces of mush. Vegetable of the day was squash, which was devoid of any seasoning and served in a small bowl with water at the bottom.....yuch! The highlight was the mashed sweet potatoes which were really quite good. My daughter had the scallops thermador, which was described as having a "light cream sauce" but in reality the few scallops were drowned in a pool of heavy sauce and again overcooked. All in all a very disappointing experience and I can not imagine how/why there were so many positive reviews. Are peoples expectations really that low? Needless to say, we won't be back and would certainly not recommend Palmer River Grill, especially with so many fine alternatives...

So we took a party of 6 for dinner. First let’s say that the place is beautiful. Our waiter was absolutely terrible. He would disappear for long periods of time and we struggled to get what we ordered. The food when it arrived was very good. The other major issue, we asked the waiter if a salad would be a choice for one of the sides. He answered that yes a salad was available as a side. When we received the bill he charged us $3.00 per salad. Now all he had to do was inform us that there was an up charge and we would have still ordered the salad but when you tell us it’s a choice for a side we were not expecting an additional $9.00. We spend @$300 on dinner so we certainly did not care about $9.00 it’s the way it was handled. We then decided to order 6 desserts to go so we could have coffee and a fire at the house after dinner. The piece of carrot cake was so small it was barely 3 bite. Now comes time to pay the bill. We never ask the restaurant to split a check for us we’re adults and can do math our self. With tip ever couple was to put $124.00 in for the bill. Even though we did not enjoy the waiter and he was less than attentive we still tip a full 20%. Two of the couple had cash and the last couple asked for $124.00 to be charged to there card. When the waiter comes back he charged $124.06 to the card because he did not want to make change. The food was great so we may try the place again but we sure will not accept this...

I reached out to Palmer River Grille recently while planning a baby shower. The event room was the perfect size for the 40 guests we were expecting.

Unfortunately their event menu only featured plated lunch/dinners and I was looking to have a brunch buffet. The manager, Sharon, was (is) fantastic.. She asked to give me a quick call back, checked with the chef, and got back to me within minutes, confirming they would be happy to put together a brunch buffet style!

Booked it, confirmed food, confirmed head count, fast forward to yesterday (event day).

The event room is very nice. It really is the perfect space for up to 50 guests. Our servers were so helpful from the start, rearranging tables to our needs (gifts, cake, raffle, etc).

The buffet setup was fantastic. It was an assortment of classic breakfast and lunch items. Everything was as delicious as we expected. I do have to add that all of this food was prepared with serious dietary restrictions in mind. Everyone was able to enjoy the entire spread.

The service start to finish was top notch. I can’t say enough amazing things about the servers we had. But honestly, the same could be said about everyone I worked with over at Palmer River Grille.

I always recommended this place for lunches and dinners. Now I can say from personal experience, you need to consider Palmer River Grille for your next...

Our server was great, considering she had the entire upstairs alone. I may be mistaken, but we did not see any others. She was very pleasant and I'm sure did her best. Was not her fault at all. It did make for slow service, to even get waited on for drinks. We made a reservation, and showed up on time. I would suggest to avoid sitting upstairs as the acoustics are awful. It was loud and really hard for our party of 4 to hear each other. Had we known, we would have requested downstairs. We understand times are tough with the industry. As I said, the server was great considering being what appeared to be under staffed. We eat out often. The food was good and we will return. Fish and chips portion is large and really nice and crispy. My sister had the meatball sub and said it was excellent. I had the scallop roll. They were the sweet, small ones, fried perfectly. No complaints eith any of the food. The seasonal sangria was so tasty!

This was our first time here since it opened. We split an app and a meal. Both did not disappoint. We decided to go with the 8 piece bone in buffalo wings which were very tasty and just crispy enough. Then we split the Portuguese pork and littlenecks. This dish was amazing. The flavors were out standing and I like how they gave you plenty of broth for dipping the warm rolls they serve. There was about a dozen littlenecks which were sweet and flavorful. The portion was plentiful and the picture shown was what we took home. Can't wait to go back again. Ask to sit in Steve's section. He had about 8 tables and was never in the weeds.

What a wonderful experience and delicious dinner!!! The food was an interesting, extensive menu with a Portuguese/Italian flare. Absolutely an amazing meal and food left for three more meals!!!!! I had Portuguese pork with little necks and potatoes in a red sauce with a kick. John had the best bolanagnese with home made noodles.....Both meals outstanding, in addition to my Wedding Soup....fabulous meal!!! Our waitress was kind, cheerful, and helpful.... These were the ingredients that insure there is always a crowd! Wow!!!@
