As of 9-12-19 park is closed due to a parvovirus outbreak! Do not bring any dogs but most especially puppy's (even if they're vaccinated) or elderly dogs there. Parvovirus is AIRBORNE and while a human can NOT contract it THEY CAN IN FACT PASS THE VIRUS TO THEIR DOG. Parvovirus is extremely difficult to disinfect and especially when it is outdoors. Best plan of action is refrain from all dog parks as not every owner is a responsible owner. Not every owner does their part to keep the other dogs in the park healthy. All it takes is one pupper - or doggo who is not wormed - who is not vaccinated- who never finished their boosters- who isn't treated for heart work-or- kennel cough... doo on and so forth to ruin the soil at the park for months to come.
I am not able to rate the owners as and unfortunately I am forced to rate this park as this because they have no safety protocols in places to prevent any of - nor do any other dog parks in our have any safety measures in place or regulations that require an owner to prove their dog is vaccinated & medically utd. We do these types of things with schools ti be sure it's a place where everyone can lean- we...
Read moreFirst visit and we noticed that the culture of the dog park is not to pick up after your pets. In the small wooded area, we noticed too late and we were saddened by the lack of care taken.
Soon afterward we also witnessed 2 owners get into a yelling match. One owner was playing fetch with her dog. Another dog wanted to play and quickly the game became aggressive. The owner who was playing fetch noticed the second dog was nipping at hers and mouthing her dogs feet and legs. So she tried to “shooo” the aggressor and this and yelling wasn't working. Nothing tried was working so eventually she raised her ball-launching stick (not sure what the name if this brand) in order to threaten the other dog. This finally got the attention of the other owner who was deep in conversation. When she noticed she became incensed and started yelling at the other owner. As you can imagine chaos was insured for the next :30 minutes.
That's when we looked at each other and said I don't think we will be coming back here.
The city does a great job taking care of the space after it's been trashed but there doesn't seem to be any sense of ownership from...
Read moreLove this place! For the pups, there are toys, running water, and bowls you can fill. For owners, there are chairs and a shady place to sit. Owners and doggies are super nice and owner etiquette has always been appropriate for humping, aggression, toy hogging, and interactions between owners. We have gone on different days/times meeting regulars and infrequent visitors. When there are no large dogs to play with, visitors to the small dog side have been kind enough to allow our large dog to play since she is so gentle and passive. I was disappointed to read the negative comments when it's easy to seclude yourself from the other owners if you don't want their company and the dog issues are to be expected in that environment. Owners have removed their dogs or disciplined any inappropriate behaviors immediately. Lots of lovely land to walk if interactions...
