I so badly want to love this place after all it’s one of the reasons I got a house a few blocks away but there are so many issues. Firstly they prioritize private bookings over community access. They allow staff members to threaten skaters with the Zamboni yet the same man is still allowed to drive them despite almost killing multiple people. The schedule is either not posted or not accurate most months, they haven’t had a schedule available online in months yet are annoyed when people call to ask the schedule?? You can try messaging them on social media but they will leave you on read for basic questions like is the schedule available, when is the next used skate sale, etc. Calling is nearly impossible, your only real chance on someone answering is weekday afternoons. They’re convinced a new facility will fix all that, the facility is...
Read moreVery nice first time ice skating. The staff are nice and friendly and give great tips for beginners. At only $8 for the admission AND skate rental, it's a great new experience if you have never done it before. I recommend it to all my friends.
Side note: I was told while in the ice arena that this ice arena has better maintained ice than most ice arenas in both D.C and Maryland. As a newbie, I couldn't tell the difference between good ice and bad ice; but the ice felt very smooth while I was skating.
Other important info:
Children (12 and under) - $4.00 admission
Adults (13 and older) - $5.00 admission
Senior Citizens (65 and older) - $4.00 admission
Skate Rental - $3.00
Public Session Times: Fridays 12:00 - 1:50 pm Saturdays...
Read moreFort Dupont Ice Arena is Washington's best kept secret. It's the only indoor ice skating rink in the city of Washington, D.C. It's not Metro accessible, explaining why many people don't know about it, but there is a large free parking lot next door as well as a Capital Bikeshare dock.
The space itself is clearly built in a different era, but they have maintained it well for not having a lot of funding. A non-profit runs the arena and it is mainly used for non-profit programming for youth who ice skate. However, they keep the ice rink open every day from 9am-4pm and rentals are affordable ($5 for adults and $4 for seniors and youth).
If you're looking for a fun, family activity in DC, check the Ice Arena out. It's such a fun...
