This fascinating National Historic Site sits along the beautiful Columbia River in North Bonneville, and is managed by the United States Army Corps of Engineers. It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.
You will find hiking trails here that tell a story as you travel the Fort Cascades Loop, as well as beautiful views of the Bonneville Dam, which are surrounded by mountains on all sides.
This area is rich in history; from Native Americans, explorers, soldiers, settlers, railroad workers and fishermen. I highly suggest checking out the website before you go.

There are maps at the beginning and markers along the trail that point out where things used to be. Unfortunately none of it is physically there today. It's still fun to walk around and try to envision what the fort and town must have looked like. Awesome opportunity to get some good pictures of Bonneville...
