Oregon Wildlife Foundation Gift Shop — Local services in Washougal

This was my first time visiting the shop, and unfortunately, the experience was not what I had hoped for. Upon entering with my 4-year-old daughter, we encountered a staff member at the register who, I felt, was unnecessarily stern with her. My daughter did touch a couple of items (which we were planning to purchase), but instead of addressing me as the parent, the staff member directly spoke to my child in a way that felt harsh and unwelcoming.

I understand that stores may prefer limited handling of merchandise, especially by young children, and I fully respect that. If the shop is not kid-friendly, a clear sign or notice for parents would be very helpful. Additionally, I couldn't help but notice unfriendly looks directed at us from the moment we walked in, which made the overall experience uncomfortable.

I visited the café inside the gift shop recently for a simple coffee run, and the experience was shockingly unprofessional. The baristas were openly rude, giving off an irritated, condescending tone as if serving customers was a burden. They even directed unnecessary sass toward my 65-year-old mother, which was completely disrespectful and uncalled for. Their behavior included throwing pens around and displaying a clear lack of basic customer service standards. No one should be treated like an inconvenience for simply ordering coffee. This is a fun place to go and bring guests. From the outside, it apoears small, so lots of people just pass it by. But, it's worth a trip insude. The gift shop is very crowded with cute inventory with friendly people working there. They have a large variety if tourist stuff from blazing pink glamingo handled umbrellas to post cards, tee shirts to Oregon jams.
