The view from the tower area is beautiful. I didn't go up the tower this time because there was already a group up there but the view must be great. The trail to get there is pretty easy but very rocky at points. If you're a casual hiker or have a bad ankle I would skip it on a wet day or day after a rain. There are parts that the only clear way is over rocks and I think would become very slick when wet. Dear CT Parks department, this park is and dire need of a much better trail map and some better marking.

I definitely underestimated the hike up to the tower. The hike is complicated by the very rocky "path" up to the top. Definitely not really a path. I am out of shape but took me about a half hour. I was disappointed by the tower. Very similar to Castle Craig in Meriden. but I think the view from Castle Craig is better. And definitely watch your head when going up the last flight of stairs. The clearance is really bad and dangerous. Overall I was disappointed.

It's a moderate hike to the tower, so you should be in relatively decent shape or you may have difficulty in the ascent. The view from the top is one of the nicest you will find in the Litchfield Hills, and is well worth the hike.

One of my favorites in the area. Relatively short walk to the top through the loops. The old chimney-in-the-woods is always fun to stumble upon, so don't miss the one here. The tower, of course, is the main attraction. On a busy, sunny weekend there's a lot of people up there, sorry to go in the off times to avoid crowds. If you visit in the winter, watch for ice under the leaves, especially on the...
