   Read moreWe requested a weekday tour since we were visiting from out of state and wanted a few experiences to give us more local history and flavor. Three ladies obliged us with an excellent tour. All three were eager to share their knowledge of and passion for the history of this unique house. We only had a little more than an hour to spend, but we could have easily spent twice that, as all three ladies were happy to answer questions and share stories and there were yard games to entertain the kids.
Just a note, allow plenty of lead time to schedule a tour if you're not able to visit on the weekend (their normal hours of operation), since this is a volunteer-run facility and the old-fashioned answering machine and email account don't get...
   Read moreI live half a mile from the mansion. It's a smaller one but nice architecture. It has a community garden which is cool, I show my kids how food is grown. The building is nicely kept and grounds around it are also well cared for. It's really a nice neighborhood local attraction for us, visited almost daily. It's awesome in the summer. It's located right next to the green river and the trail, so it's loved by locals. The only thing is that I never saw the building being opened for visitors, so we have to peek through...
