Durhamtown. A place where the owners ego can’t rest. After riding out here with a few groups of my friends , we were made aware of the antics that one of the owners is up to by another rider . Well a few days ago we were riding and one of the riders we met up with had hurt himself. So he rode back to his truck to leave. After a few minutes we ended up riding over to find him and make sure he was okay. Just to find the owner (Mike) screaming at the rider .. I guess this isn’t the first time he had been in the faces of customers . After everything settled and someone helped our friend load their bike up, we had spoke with him about what had happened Supposedly the owner was upset about a Facebook post that was made in regards to track conditions and tracks closing down. While the post may have been alittle forward, it’s still noted that the owner had a personal vendetta against this rider . At a place that has such a high reputation to hold , and a staple point in the local riding Community. It’s disappointing and disgusting that an owner none the less , is out here limiting speech and borderline violent against public criticism. If the owner would take the time to take care of this place the same way they take the time to hunt down riders because of their freedom of speech, then this place wouldn’t have any issues with track conditions, and shutting tracks down.
Durham town had become a drama filled spectacle that the riding community is slowly trying to get away from . This post will most likely be taken down or the owner will reply with some corny response.
Just do better , we just wanna ride , we don’t want your drama filling this great...
Read moreMy husband brought me here from Ooltewah, TN to teach me - a 49 yr old bougie mama of 4 kids - how to ride a dirt bike!!! The staff was SOOO down-to-earth and welcoming. They called me by name and made me feel right at home. I am usually anxious about going out around people and being people-y but their laid back aura made me calm right down. There's somewhere to eat, bathrooms, so many places to have fun and get muddy! Haha After my husband rented my dirt bike, he gave me my instructions (with some gentle admonishions) and after about 30 minutes I was turnt loose on my own and flying around the beginner's track! I enjoyed that I was the only one over there riding (I fell down once trying to go up a small hill and it was wonderful 😊 I felt like a kid again) but there were people around here and there doing their own thing in the other areas. So I didn't feel watched or gawked at or laughed at. It was great. I had a really good time. It was about 72° that day so my forehead got damp in my helmet and I had on jeans, boots, and a long sleeve t-shirt and it wasn't too hot at all. Nothing bothered me and I rode and experimented and tried and messed up and changed and tried again and was left to myself exactly as I wanted (he checked on me once in a while... was probably hiding behind a tree but says he went off riding another track nearby). But yeah, it was a 4 or 5 hour ride from our town to get there but it was worth it. I would love to actually make a day of it and hang out, BBQ, ride, and have fun. It's the place to be for stuff like that! A+, highly recommend and 10/10 would get...
Read moreMy family went to Durhamtown during Thanksgiving holidays, we stayed in one of the larger cabins. I was not terribly impressed with the cleanliness of the place, but also realized this was more of a man vacation than a 5star hotel. We took dirt bikes and our side by side. The trails and tracks were pretty impressive and my 15 year old son, husband and son in law had a blast riding and plenty of tracks and trails to ride for days! We enjoyed the fire pit in the evenings and family time. The simplicity of the cabin and the fact that cell service was pretty awful made for a lot of one on one with the family, which was awesome! My 15 year old son unfortunately had a pretty bad wreck on MX4 track. He dislocated his hip, broke his collarbone, tore his ACL, MCL & PCL. I wont go into too many details, he obviously just had a freak accident and got too brave our last day there. These tracks are no joke and we are very thankful he’s in recovery now! I would recommend this place and we may return one day, my son is almost 6 months out from the accident and still not able to fully ride, nor play soccer. As a mama, this was a fun get away for my family and even though our stay did end pretty traumatically, I would recommend you going and enjoying unplugged family time. My only advice would be to invest in some extra safety gear (chest protector, knee guards) if your kid is riding these type of tracks especially for the...
