By far one of my favorite hiking spots in the Reno area. There is a creek that runs down the mountain through the various trails in the park that is worth taking a look at. Of the many times I've visited Galena Regional Park, it has never been overcrowded whatsoever, even in the middle of summer. Its a very peaceful area to go get some fresh air and get your steps in if you're looking to escape the city atmosphere.
If you're searching for a place to go fishing near South Reno, Marilyn's Pond is the spot I recommend, particularly for those looking to take their kids and family with them. Nice park with visitor center, nature trail, fishing pond, and fish hatchery. I see school field trips on weekdays. Can get crowded...
Read moreA great place to hike and spend the day. There are picnic tables, bathrooms, and a great visitor center! Myself, my husband, son, and dog walked about 6 miles all together. We ran in to dogs being off leash, not recalling, and rushing in. Our dog is friendly, but...
