Nice waterfalls. Not super spectacular, but they were still neat. Not nearly as well-known or crowded as the main attractions nearby: Angels Rest and Vista House, or Multnomah Falls a little further away.
The lower falls are really close to the parking lot. The upper falls were 0.8 miles each way (according to the sign in the parking lot). The upper falls are in two sections and you can walk right under them, but it's a little muddy. There are a couple paths (either side of the stream) depending on which parking lot you come from, but there is one point about halfway where you can cross the stream on logs over to the opposite trail. It would be difficult to get lost (I was there after it got dark and wasn't worried), and I had reception the entire...
Read moreIt is one of the breath taking Volcanic waterfalls that I saw during my our tour. The water fall was created after the volcano erupted about 15,000 years ago (so I was told buy my tour guid) The volcanic rock has vertical, 3 dimensional columns. The colums are so perfectly created by nature that is seems as if they were actually man made by technology. You will see a huge yellow spot on the mid, right side of the rock. The yellow stain was not made by vandalism, but by nature. the spot is yellow algae. The waterfall is located about a 10th of a mile (more or less) from the dirt parking lot area. The parking lot area has 2 portable restrooms you can use. From this parking lot location, you can see where the state of...
Read moreThis is an amazingly beautiful State Park located on the Historic Columbia Highway. The trails throughout are well maintained, and the scenery is spectacular. There are picnic tables and plenty of parking. This is a must stop along with all the other trails and parks along this route, plus the numerous magnificent waterfalls in the area. The basalt cliffs and the forces of nature that it took to make this beautiful landscape are mind-boggling. Built by Mother Nature and shaped by Father Time. As always, leave no trace, leave it better than you found it,...
