Beautiful hike. Trail (roughly 2 miles) is not paved, can get narrow, and has some pretty steep drop-offs. Also not flat! But only occasionally is it steep enough to require switch-backs. This weekend warrior did just fine. Plenty of people when we visited July 5: we got the final parking place around noon! Porta potties and one picnic table compete the actual amenities, but you're there for the falls. And they are spectacular. It's possible if not necessarily advisable to scramble on the log jam, and get toes or whole bodies into the (very cold) water. My 8 year old waded a long time. Be warned that they no longer allow the $5 use fee to be paid in cash onsite. You must hope and pray for enough cell signal to pay online. This made us pretty grumpy, as neither of our carriers had much bandwidth available out there. It's one of those ideas that looks great on paper but breaks down in practice. Read more9/17/19 Hiked Wahclella falls for the first time ever. One other car in the lot (not a very big parking lot, maybe 5+ cars). 2.45 miles in 1hr 3mins total and 6 mins stopped time with 697ft elevation gain. 2 handicap spots in the lot. 3 relatively clean Porta John's and a picnic table. A trail close to the entrance. The trail to Wahchella is beyond the gate and handicap accessible for maybe the first 1/2 (relatively flat) , after that not handicap accessible (starts to gain elevation and doesn't stop till 1/2 mile or less from the falls). If bringing young children keep your eye on them there are steep drop offs on this trail. Saw 2 people at wahclella falls. There is another falls on the way to wahclella that was beautiful as well with a couple sketchy areas as well as areas where slides could be a threat with heavy rain. Looks like there is a trail split a 1/2 mile from the falls that is closed right now on both sides. You need a NW Forrest pass or America the beautiful pass or pay for parking at kiosk at parking lot...

The mist near the falls adds a magical touch, but be prepared with external lighting to manage the tricky conditions.
