It was a nice beach and clean. It's a bit confusing if you don't know your way around the area. It's a really big parking lot so it's best to try and park as close as you can to where you want to go. The amusement park is big and expensive but what amusement park isn't? You need to park all the way at the end for the amusement park since that's where it is. The beach is in the beginning of the lot. So we parked pretty close and walked about 5 minutes to get to the beach. Not because of the parking lot but because you need to walk through a trail of woods and then it turns to sand and the beach. There are bathrooms on this "trail" and a shower for you to rinse off and a low spray for your feet. Although we weren't able to use it because there were huge families and we waited for about 10 minutes and couldnt get in there.

There's no "in ground" grills to cook so everything needs to be prepared beforehand. It wasn't a horrible beach, we just personally wouldn't go again. Especially with a charge of $20 to get into the...

My family and I drove over an hour to come to this beach only to find out they changed their policy mid summer to only allow season pass holders. We were very disappointed and now needed to figure out if we could go to another beach nearby to salvage the day. We pulled in and parked, so that we could get on our phones to start googling other beaches. and an employee (Diane) got in her car drove up to us and demanded that we leave immediately. We tried to explain that we weren't familiar with the area and we were just trying to figure out where to go next, but Diane kept cutting us off and was extremely rude and dismissive. She told us there was no point googling things because we wouldn't get any service and she refused to move her car until we left. She then followed us in her car out of the park to ensure that we were leaving. It was very upsetting, we will not be returning to this beach and I recommend that Diane get some customer...

As an Indigenous person, when I first stumbled upon this* stunning place * I thought "yeah, I can see why they stole it from us" as a conspiracy theorist lover, I thought "this is in my top 5 of this simulation" as a spiritual person I was /am so grateful for a beautiful, clean, dog friendly sanctuary to go and connect with the majesty of the ocean. There is a paved path to the inlet(?) area, after a cute lil bridge, there's a type of carpet like area over the sand leading to the beach. I'm pretty sure a wheelchair could go on it. I love this place. There are huge boulders to the right of the small beach, climb able to a marble engraved bench that overlooks the ocean. You can see Long Island, and all the other lil islands from the top vantage point. This place is so very beautiful I can't believe it's not always packed with people. We'll, maybe in summer it is. I found it ( or it found me?)only recently. Go, please, you'll...

First let me say that I live in Waterford and invested in a beach pass for the season. Glad I did as we go often. This most recent trip we finally explored the grounds beyond just the beach and found a small playscape and the 3 pavilions. Learned there is a second restrooms facility near the pavilions, which is convenient. Life guards were on duty and the beach got more populated as the day went on. Waterford Police had a beach patrol today as well. I've included some pictures from visits at the beginning and end of the season. If it wasn't so expensive for non-resident pass holders I would have given 5 stars. To bring friends/family from out of town is rare for us. I'd feel bad asking them to pay $20 for a few hours.

Waterford Beach is a gem in the outdoor spaces of eastern Connecticut. Beautiful grassy areas that lead to the beach make for great picnic space away from the sand. The beach is accessible by a sidewalk from the lower parking to the sand. There are bathrooms and outdoor showers to wash the sand off asking the path. Parking can be limited. Weekdays are less crowded but can still fill up. Waterford residents can get an annual pass at the town hall. Non residents pay a daily fee.
