My wife and I first came to the Hunter Farm in September for the pumpkin patch and while scouting for locations for our son's first birthday. We enjoyed the pumpkin patch, covered wagon ride and petting zoo. 3 stars for those features. That day we decided to book their small barn as the location for our son's first birthday party to be held the first weekend in December. They were very nice and explained how we'd be able to use the pot belly stove as well as the fire pit just outside the barn. We were excited about the barn and the wagon ride to the petting zoo for our guests. We asked if they would have Christmas decorations up at that time and they said they would not. A month before the party we confirmed with them that we were still booked and that there would not be Christmas decorations. Everything was set. Five days before the birthday party we drove by and were surprised to find the barn had been converted to Santa's Workshop. They explained that our party would be in "the enclosure on the hill". We weren't thrilled to hear that but went to check it out. The enclosure turned out to be an aluminum carport with hay bales for walls on only two sides and a gravel floor and 6 picnic tables crammed inside. We had been told we were getting a rustic and whimsical barn with a stove and now our son's first birthday party with 35 adults and 17 kids was going to be held in a carport. We were not happy and explained that this was not going to work. They said that we couldn't have the party in the barn as originally promised (by the owner) and that they always had Christmas decorations there in December. They tried to accommodate us by saying they could put hay down in the carport and add patio heaters but the carport was completely unacceptable. We will not be going back to Hunter Family Farm. Additionally, there is a better farm to get...
Read moreBought our Christmas tree here and it never drank water. I had the tree home and in water within 15 minutes of them tying to my car. I waited a day or so to let the branches drop a little before decorating and noticed it wasn't drinking water then. So I gave it another day then called Hunter Farm. I was told that the tree was very fresh, and it may just have a lot of water in it already and that it was safe to decorate. I decorated the tree and from there it still never drank water. Luckily it made it to Christmas as a very very dried out tree but overall very disappointed in the quality. Not sure what the issue was, maybe they didn't cut the bottom before strapping it to my car who knows. Next year I will be looking elsewhere...
Read moreWas good, but not great. The animals at the barn were fun to visit, but they gave you a very short time there- maybe 10 minutes then rushed you (quite rudely!) to get back on the tractor. There were very few people mid-week, which was nice for social distancing and most patrons were wearing masks, but many employees were not. -update- We have since been back many times and love Hunter Farm. This is a good example of why customer service is so important and how first impressions count. After our first encounter with the curmudgeony man we could have easily...
