Little River is a nice spot for a cold dip in the springs with your family. There are some large shallow areas that are great for children learning to swim, as well as the deeper spring head (10-15ft). The water is usually crystal clear without much algae. The springs are also handicap accessible via the wheelchair ramp which isn't very common. Currently there's some minor construction being done on one of the very many staircases leading down to the spring, but that doesn't inhibit access in any way... just basic upkeep you know. There are bathrooms that are clean, and picnic tables up on the hill surrounding the spring. It can get busy especially in the summer though so try to get there early or as people are leaving for lunch or you may have to wait a few minutes at the gate. I believe the entrance fee is $5 a car, though I can't say whether or not it's changed. There's usually a deputy on site at all times as security so you can be assured it's safe and well patrolled. Honestly though it's immensely popular and very clean so 100% worth a visit.
Btw the photo I posted is a few years old but it hasn't...
Read moreLittle river springs is a fantastic spring located just outside the city of Branford. They have ample amounts of parking and is open all year round. Very busy during summer break and weekends during the warm parts of the year. Surrounding the spring, are brick pathways and stairs. There is a wheelchair accessible path that wraps around the left side of the spring. Also on the left side, is a wall-less building with grills and picnic tables. On the right side is a observation deck and a trail that follows along the river going up stream. A short walk up the river will lead you to a rope swing. The spring consists of 1 hole is the middle with 1 big trench and 2 minor trenches coming off of it. When the water level is low, the depth outside the hole and trenches does not exceed 4 feet. The hole in the center has a maximum depth of 10-12 feet before entering the cave. Divers frequent the area and dive in the cave. They generally only show up during low activity. Pets/alcohol are not authorized. Please bring a bag with you to help pick up trash and maintain the cleanliness of this...

News flash charging ppl isn't going to change that, yet ichetucknee charges and your can't so much as go near the water without your bag getting searched and God forbid your your autistic child needs floats that's prohibited, but they keep their eyes on if someone makes a mess. By charging a fee especially on brown out, how many families that are super low income managing to get their families to go enjoy family time out in nature did you just ruin? I can barely make ends meet and had appreciation for making memories with my kids and us experience true beauty of nature, thanks to systems like this it's not a shock children end to finding toxic ways keep themselves in the boxes societies created. Cheaper to buy a blunt then get in to swim with your family...
