We did the hike to Saint Mary and Virginia Falls on our first night in Glacier.

The parking fills up pretty easily, but we were lucky enough to get a spot that someone else was pulling out of when we got there around 5:30.

The hike was about 4 miles round-trip to see both falls. There are some hills, but nothing too steep.

You get to Saint Mary Falls first, but I would highly recommend continuing on to Virgina Falls because it's stunning. You'll also see quite a few small falls along the way.

On our way back we shall saw a deer cross the park right in front of us.

Along with the falls, you'll also get some good views of the mountains. This is definitely a hike worth...

This is a good 2.1-mile round trip hike to great waterfall. The first half of the hike has the most elevation change, with the rest of the trial being fairly flat. You can see St. Mary Lake, as you hike as the tree cover is gone from a past fire.

The trail itself will have an abundance of wild flowers along the trial, depending on the time of year on your visit. Sadly, we did not see any wildlife on the trial.

The only issue with the trial is parking. There are not enough spaces to accommodate hikers. If the shuttle was running, there is a stop for the hike if so inclined. There is an area that can be for parking just east of...

Add this to your list of hikes in East Glacier and you won’t be disappointed. While St. Mary’s visitor center is currently closed you can still drive up the Going to the Sun road to get to this hike. I think the rain and wind deterred most hikers as the trails were sparsely populated. Once you head down from the start of the trailhead which is almost immediately, you are out of the wind. There isn’t much elevation gain or loss and the steepest part is right at the start. The falls are gorgeous but go further from St. Mary’s falls to Virginia falls as they are better and just keep going this...
