What looks like a great little demonstration farm, is also a great place to wander through the woods and fields and experience a pristine natural environment. Bring your little ones here to meet all the farm animals, like chickens, cows, goats, lamas, pigs, and even a horse. There are also bunnies, ducks, and a goose. Inside the office you will find snakes, lizards, and frogs. But that's only half the farm. Manicured gardens stretch 100s of feet to the back of the field. There you will find paths the meander past ponds and a brook and into a small forest hidden within this West Hartford treasure. This place loses a star since I can't bring my dogs to walk along the paths with me. Picnicking is also not allowed. Our son has gone to summer camp for probably 6-8 weeks during his grade school years. The counselors and staff were wonderful.
We have hiked throughout the park in a dozen or more occasions since 2016, when we settled in to the area. Nothing strenuous. A nice time in nature. We’ve see some fun wildlife, such as Blue Heron and Bobcat. You can even have a guided walk with and learn all kinds of interesting information.
We have done night hikes, campfires, and ghost stories with the boy scouts and have taken hay rides around the property by tractor.

The coolest part are the barnyard animals and large garden. They are open all year round so it's a nice spot to take the kids or yourself to. There are three miles of trails too; don't forget your duck boots, we went after rain and it was muddy but fun nonetheless. There's even a half mile of that trail that is handicap accessible.
