The view from the overlook is always pretty great, especially in the winter when there are less leaves on the trees. It is perfectly positioned at the bend in the river to see a long ways up-stream. Lots of signs tell you not to go past them...people die every so often from disregarding them which is why they have hidden cameras all over. Please dont be stupid amd put yourself at risk. Also, there was a bit of litter from toilet paper so it would probably be nice if there was a porta potty ar the parking area. Use the Burger King down the hill before your trip if you like. Not too long of a hike, but gets the blood flowing. I usually hike the round trip and see the overlook first, chickies rock second. Signage is pretty good on the...

We learned about this overlook online. We went to the part off of 441 on a bend. Large parking area with main entrance.

The walk starts uphill on a large, long path with lots of small rocks. No asphalt here. Once we got to the top the rest of the way is flat and less rocky.

The overlooks - there are 2 areas a short path away from one another - are great viewing areas overlooking the river. It is popular. A good amount of people gathered the evening we went to see the sunset.

It was great, the sunset pics here cannot do it justice. Tip: If you go for sunsets allow 20 to 30 minutes walk each way. And bring a flashlight for the...

This has always been a beautiful spot to visit and see the susquehanna river as it comes from the area of Harrisburg towards Columbia. There are some hiking trails you can access from the top of Chickies Rock County Park however these trails are now very narrow and unkempt so if you decide to visit and explore the trails in this area, be mindful of your footwear as the trails are very overgrown and I would also recommend knowing the common poison plants in the area as there was a lot of poison which yielded the trail we encountered nearly inaccessible. I still enjoy this park...

Don’t go to this spot thinking you will get miles in. The loop to the overlook and back in maybe a mile round trip. The trail is really nice to get out in nature and not have to worry about getting lost or having to know what trails to take to get to the overlook. Easy enough for little ones and elderly. The terrain for the most part is smooth. Can get very rocky around the overview. Overall a nice place that I will be back again and again for the river views you get. Give it a shoot and while walking the trail if you see trash do your part in helping to keep it clean.
