Laurel Gorge Cultural Heritage Center — Attraction in West Liberty

Nice hike, pretty scenery. Wanted to post my own review to help others find the place! GPS told me to turn Right off of a bridge….but the actual road to get there is straight across from the Dollar General. There’s a sign on the opposite side of the road. The first gravel drive on your right is the road to go up. After hours/weekends it is closed and there is a gate up so you can’t drive up there. You can still park at the very bottom of the drive, without blocking the gate, and walk up the road to get there. It’s not a bad little walk up to it. I found out the hard way, driving back and forth and all around, and finally going into the store to ask how we get there....

Free and informative. Great people there. Always something in the area to do in any type weather. Lots of information about the area & its heritage. Plenty of walking trails with sights to see, also near the Grayson lake Kayak boat ramp and not far from a couple of other state parks. Great place to live or visit if you want a small town with nice people nestled in a country setting with plenty of nature, camping, boating, fishing, swimming, educational and fun stuff to do free or...

Laurel Gorge and the Cultural center are a great place to take some easy trails that basically circle around, so that most people will not have issues making the round-trip. Plus the rock formations in the Gorge display thousands of years of geological upheaval, with a stream in the Gorge for kayaks and canoes . Grayson Lake is nearby, for those who like boating...
