This weekend I volunteered for a high school dance at The Gin. At first glance, it was a nice place, small parking lot but nice outdoor space and nice rustic looking inside. Quickly though, the smell hit you. Sewer. The kitchen sink area stank, the corner of the open space near the pass through kitchen window stank like sewer. It was absolutely overwhelming and just got worse as the night went on. I saw a few kids smelling the food and I asked them what was wrong and they were trying to find the source of the smell. I assured them it was NOT the food they were eating but rather the sewer. After a few hours, I just had to stay outside, the smell was so bad no one wanted to stay inside. It was so off putting. It was just so, so bad. We had adult guests plunging toilets that didn’t work right. Yes, there are signs that say to hold the handle but the toilets did not flush, even with me, an adult, holding the handle. Can you imagine if you had pooped or were on your period? That’s absolutely mortifying. Something needs to be done, the place is beautiful but with smells and pipes like that, it’s a hidden disaster. Attached is a picture of under the kitchen sink, admittedly I don’t know what I’m looking at, but the men there said this was all done wrong and possibly part of the smell. Idk. But I’m attaching it anyway. Also, the oven doesn’t work right. Idk if it needs to be recalibrated but 350* doesn’t work at all. We cranked it up over 400* and finally got some heat but that was a disaster for us and we ended up putting food out late. Lastly, this venue doesn’t allow Facebook reviews. I have to wonder why.

We celebrated a 13th birthday this past weekend and we couldn’t have had more fun. The venue was clean and had plenty of space inside and out. If you haven’t used the Gin at West Point for one of your events, you need to. The owners are great to work with and the space was fabulous!!

This place has all of the charm and rugged beauty of an old cotton gin with some amazing upgrades! There has been a lot of time and love put into this place which definitely shines through with the added details. The space is fairly large and has indoor/outdoor options to meet anyone’s needs. They have heating and cooling, a bride and groom lounge, a fully functional kitchen, tables and chairs, benches, and a very nice outdoor fireplace area. My husband and I were married there November of 2023 and we were blown away by this magical venue! The owners are nice people and their coordinator Miranda was an absolute pleasure to work with! She was there every step of the way to answer any questions we had and she was very accommodating to our needs/schedule. She went above and beyond to make the day go smoothly for us. I would recommend this place to any and everyone I know for any type of get together. The icing on the cake so to speak is the price. They had the most affordable options out of the 15 venues I spoke to! If you have a wedding, birthday, baby shower, or just a family reunion coming up I highly recommend you check out The Gin! You will...

Great venue and owners! Really enjoyed seeing this venue and learning about the history! They have a gorgeous outdoor ceremony site complete with a fireplace.
