I love this family friendly side, to hike with my family. There are many bikers so pay attention to them behind you, if you have ear buds/earphones on. Most people are nice about it if you do not hear them coming though. Just be careful. Most everyone is very friendly and will greet you in smile, as they pass you. Honey bucket is located at the bottom beginning of your hike. It usually takes me about 1.5 hrs to go all the way. The view is breath taking especially as sunsets. Be sure to make time to reach the bottom, where you started before night falls. In the early mornings it's much colder as you go higher on the mountain, so take a light sweater or something of that sort in case you feel the chilly breeze. It is 2.1 miles to the top if you follow the whole trail. The elevation gain is about 755 ft. The Skyline trail is the longest yet least steep of all 3 trails that lead to the top. The other two, and the steepest are Sagebrush trail and Canyon trail. Access to these trails is on the Shockley road side of Badger. Canyon trail is the steepest of the 2. It is a little over 900 ft. of elev. in just under 1 mile. Sagebrush is about 1.25 miles with around 825 ft. of elev. gain. I am just estimating based on my own hikes and Strava. All 3 have hikes are fairly easy for any level Know yourself and go at your own pace! You will make...
Read moreI never made it to the top but still got some good exercise in. Can lose weight doing this climb. They continually improve the trail. The first bench is where I usually made it to. One time I saw a young rattlesnake zip through the legs of hiker in front of me. He said to say Stop when see one. We were hiking together; he made it to the top. We used hiking sticks. And took a cellphone. There's a restroom at bottom before going up. My grandchildren easily climbed to top. Looking forward to going...
