This is a regular spot for a low impact hike with my family. Nothing too dangerous for kids of most ages, but we're definitely not talking strollers here. I mostly low-grade incline and few obstructions makes it a good place if kids tend to get ahead. Prior to social-distancing, I would say the paths have plenty of space for two-way traffic. Since social-distancing, we do find the best option to step off the trail to allow others to pass. If traveling with a wheelchair, bring one with trailworthy tread, as it's packed dirt, rocks and a few areas with...
Read moreI'm so glad that there are people working to preserve some natural areas in the Tri-Cities. Candy Mt is like Badger Mt's little sister in terms of difficulty. As I said before, the trail is a very gentle climb to the top and at the top there are some large basalt rock benches to relax on and enjoy the view and learn a little bit about the...
Read moreThis is a good short day hike to get yourself in shape. A new gravel trail was just put in this year and is fairly level. There is a good parking lot with a porta-potty where you could park a horse trailer. I've seen horses walk the trail and even someone riding their bike to the top. The views from on top of Candy Mountain are wonderful. You can see the entire Tri-City area and volcanos in the Cascades near Portland, Seattle, and...
