MOLD - HOLLY MOLD - DANGEROUS MOLD!!! We stayed in Cabin 2 on the PA SIDE. As soon as we walked through the door, all I could smell was MOLD. I got an instant migraine. The smell was so pungent that my dog did not want to enter through the front door. He kept backing up. We unpacked and got settled and I figured the smell would dissipate, but it never did. I got up the next morning and opened my daughters door to her room, and the smell of MOLD almost made me vomit, this was with the windows opened. I immediately called the front office and the lady who answered the phone kept cutting me off and was irritated that I told her about the mold. She cut me off and said she would send someone to our cabin to look into it and needless to say, no one ever came. We were forced to stay outside majority of the time because of the smell. I had to go to the local store nearby to buy candles. My dog was a complete wreck, and that's not to be taken lightly. They have a keen sense of smell and for him to be afraid to walk through the front door speaks volumes! I didn't leave early because I paid a lot of money to stay 3 nights over a holiday weekend. I was livid that we had to camp and sleep in these conditions. If I would have left, I would have had to forfeit my entire balance. It was non refundable because of it being on a holiday weekend. I'm not taking away from the breathtaking views or the atmosphere of the park, it's stunning and why I chose this park. If you take away anything from MY REVIEW, STAY in the cabins on the OHIO SIDE. The staff on the OHIO side were so kind and warm with us. The PA SIDE, the staff was...
Read moreThis has to be the worst state park in Pennsylvania possibly the worst in the world. I use to live 13miles outside of Pittsburgh and had more beautiful trails to walk on then here. I guess those people fishing like carp and catfish. If you don't hunt know about tractors you will not fit in the only people that live here or old and stuck somewhere they don't want to be. These people don't know the difference between work clothes and good clothes it's so flat that when it rains you have a better chance of catching fish in your back yard. Any body with any common sense would not drink this water it smells like sh--t not to mention you can actually see sediment in it. I could go on and on with the negatives. The best thing about this erea is a great vet for my dog and by the way I didn't even let her drink the water. The biggest atracction here is feeding carp bread. If you want to do absolutely nothing at a state park this is the place for you it doesn't hurt to be 70 either. I have nothing but negative things to say about this place the last eight years of my life have been horrific went to the state park once. I feel bad for the people who are stuck in this barren waste land. Visit sh-t lake to do absolutely nothing what so ever. There are so many abonden houses and delapated places you would think...
Read moreIt was a pretty park...BUT...we had issues from the moment we arrived. Our initial campsite was filthy (trash) and heavily flooded from recent rain. The campers next to the site were on our site when we arrived. It was awkward. The staff was reluctant to move us to a new site, but ultimately did move us. We went without power for much of our stay (so we ended up leaving a day early). It was frustrating that we didn't even have 110 power for much of our stay and the staff were kinda like, "Well there's nothing we can do." (We were one of 5 people in the park without power). Ultimately the two redeeming thing about the park is that they refunded us one night's stay (but we would have rathered to have what we paid for) and the front desk gal was nice. On our drive out there, we called the park and were given the wrong address (they told us to go to one of the sister parks...which cost us money (gas) and time). The park they sent us to was overgrown and the trees scratched up our 37 foot class A RV. Overall, staying at Pymatuning SP was a negative experience. We do not have...
