Have spent many an hour here and every time it is just as amazing- if not more so... I have camped in 30degree weather few years back for bridge day... To wake up to campground water well pump had decided... that day to decide it was done... Yet.... We did mot let it deter our adventure. I can spend an eady 2 hours at the welcome center.. Just realized this trip how much the kids usually hurry us.. I had missed quite a bit on my last drop in.. It was slick from a little bit of leftover snow and well.. Seeing as how they were not open yet.. We jumped ( actually stepped over) the closed fence that stated closed due to ice, made our journey all the way down... We had just traveled from Cherry Point Military Base in NC so the walk was great... Heed the sign... Easy going down.. Coming up is breath-taking, literally.. We drove down through the cannon and once we started back up I decided to walk to get some better shots with my cell phone.. If ever passing over, up or down near here... Make it a stop.. Stretch your legs..learn some great interesting history... And meet some amazing ppl who shown up every day to meet and greet the public and keep the gorge- gorgeous for viewers like us and the wild life that make their...

Visiting the Canyon Rim Visitor Center was a highlight of my trip to the New River Gorge National Park. The center itself is well-maintained and offers a wealth of information about the area's extensive history, wildlife, and available activities. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, ready to answer any questions with enthusiasm and detail.

The real gem, however, is the view from the visitor center. The panoramic overlook of the New River Gorge and the famous New River Gorge Bridge is simply breathtaking. Whether you're capturing photos or just soaking in the natural beauty, the scenery is unforgettable.

The boardwalk to the viewing platforms is well designed, ensuring that everyone, regardless of mobility, can enjoy the vista. The walk down the steps to the lower overlook is worth the effort for an even more dramatic perspective of the gorge.

Overall, the Canyon Rim Visitor Center provides an excellent introduction to the area, combining educational resources with spectacular natural beauty. It’s a perfect stop for families, photographers, and nature lovers alike. I highly recommend making it a priority visit when exploring West Virginia’s...

Visited Saturday afternoon in early April 2023. There was a giant storm thatbhad gone through along with a wind advisory all day. When we arrived the visitor center had no power and the store was closed along with the bathrooms as they need the elctricity to pump the sewage across the street. Luckily we were staying the night at hawksnest state park just up the road (which also didn't have power) and were also visiting the next day. The rangers were very friendly and knowledgeable. They gave us junior ranger booklets to work on.

The national park stamps are located in the corner to the left when you walk into the visitor center. They had 5 different stamps (including Thurmond and grandview visitor centers which were both currently closed). The boardwalk trail right outside the visitor center was also closed because of the wind.

There was a small area of exhibits in the visitor center along with a short movie to watch in their theater.

Overall the park was great and we would gladly visit again to do other trails or other adventures. We did the endless wall trail, longpoint trail and Thurmond. We actually were there as a train was...
