He's ugly! Why would anyone want such a goofy looking statue greeting them as they enter town? Apparently this cartoon cowboy was designed in the early 1950s and it definitely looks like it. With it's happy demeanor, tacky use of primary colors, and lack of interesting characteristics, this statue is beyond amateur. I can almost gurantee you there weren't any competing designs. There's no other explanation for this abomination. They had to have commissioned the first draft they saw. William would be ashamed of how his likeness is being represented. This 62 ft sign was up where the Nugget casino is today, back when it was the Stateline Casino.
