I heard this place was the steak house to go to in Wendover, come to find out I was not impressed at all with this place. I came here one the weekend to bring my family to try it out because I was told by the pit employees that this was the place to eat at Wendover and was one of the best restaurants there.
I was highly disappointed. We were sat down quickly but It took about 25 minutes before finally being approached and asked what we would like to drink. Upon waiting we already had enough time to go over the menu and know what we wanted so we politely asked the waitress we were ready to put in our orders for food. After we ordered, we did receive complementary bread and this is the only reason of possibly giving two stars because that kind of saved us from starting to eat our hands, I will admit the bread they provided was delicious but it doesn't excuse it took another 45 minutes before receiving our food. I ordered the 16oz medium cooked prime rib and it was over done, my friend ordered the same thing in a medium and he was done to a medium rare, I didn't fuss because I was too hungry to return my order because it already took to long to receive our food. My wife ordered the chicken cordon bleu and took two bites and didn't eat anymore.
I will say, you will have a better and cheaper experience going to the buffet they have in the Rainbow Casino because the prime rib tasted exactly like what they served there and my wife would have had more options rather than tossing her chicken aside. Another option would be to just to walk over to McDonald's because the chicken they serve on their sandwiches has more flavor than what is served at "The Steakhouse"
I will not be...
Read moreLet's start with appearances. Its nice, elegant looking place. Even though its in a middle of casino, its quite and you do not smell smoke from cigarettes. Second, table linens are nice, clean and crisp. Staff is very polite and doing COVID is taking all percussion (masks, gloves, utensils wraped in linen napkins).
Now let's talk about the food. I consider myself "entusiast-connoisseur" of French onion soup. Never expected to have such a good soup in West Wendover 😋. IT WAS EXCELLENT!!!! Next I had a primed rib. It was really good too. Asparagus in garlic butter was fantastic. On the other hand, saturated button mushrooms in the red wine reduction was a bit to heavy and to sour for my taste, but it was very generous portion.
Over all, it is an "hidden gem" of Wendover. You will need to make reservations and bring your winnings, because this place is on a pricey side, but...

The quality of the food was a little less than subpar for considering itself a high-end steak house. If im paying $45+ for an unseasoned chicken plate with old over-cooked crab on top of it at least suggest something better than that. Also got a 16oz ribeye that was left cooking on one side a lot longer than the other, one side was rare and the other was well done.
They get their drinks served from the bar outside where the charge of a premium in the restaurant makes no sense.
Didn't bother with their wine selection just based on their outdated list of whites and cabs.
Nice ambiance and decent...
