This place is breathtaking beautiful, but I have to leave this common for its not-so-nice staff. My husband and I went to this visitor education center at Canyon Village on Aug 14, 2014. When we arrived at 3PM, we found a small bag on the sofa near the entrance. We asked around but people who lost it seemed to be gone. So we brought the bag to the information desk which was just 5ft away. This white man around 50 yrs old was the nearest staff to our access. We held the bag waiting to let him know while he kept talking to other people. We kept waiting and he kept talking, as if we were invisible. We waited for about 15 mins until we had to say "sorry to interrupt you" so we could go inside the museum. We have been in the US for more than 2 yrs and we couldn't believe that a staff in a world famous national park like Yellowstone could do this on purpose, treating guests differently according to their color or nationality! When we left the center, we went through the lobby and saw a young couple come to that staff to get the bag. That staff man saw us but didn't mention anything to that couple even though we were just passing right behind them. Now he definitely did it on purpose! And I still couldn't believe that! Every staff at Yellowstone was professional and helpful until we met this guy! I never wrote a google comment but for this guy I will not let him get away with it. His fake smile and obvious ignorant attitude has ruined our memory of this center. This person is apparently not well trained for his job. He might be more suitable to work somewhere else that only opens to a certain...
Read moreCanyon Visitor Education Center: The center in Yellowstone National Park is a great resource for park visitors. Engaging Exhibits: The Canyon Visitor Education Center does a fantastic job of showcasing Yellowstone's geology through interactive exhibits and displays. The giant relief map is particularly impressive, helping visitors visualize the park's landscape.
Informative Stop: The center provides valuable information about the park, including ranger talks, films, and brochures. It's a perfect place to orient yourself before heading out to explore.
Restroom & Amenities: The restrooms are clean and well-maintained, and there's a helpful bookstore and gift shop if you're looking for park souvenirs or extra supplies.
Limited Food Options: While there's a cafeteria on-site, the food selection is somewhat limited. If you're looking for a wider variety or a sit-down meal, you might need to head elsewhere in Canyon Village.
Can Get Crowded: The Canyon Visitor Education Center can get quite crowded, especially during peak season. This can make it difficult to navigate the exhibits and get the most out of your visit.
Overall: The Center is a valuable resource for any Yellowstone visitor. It offers a wealth of information, engaging exhibits, and helpful amenities. However, the limited food options and potential crowds might hold it back from a...
Read moreRANGERS- The rangers were very nice and helpful. As the park was closing due to unfortunate and unforseen circumstances the rangers were very helpful with trying to get people where they needed to go and how. Some of the rangers were new so a little slow but still a painless and easy process to get information.
SHOPS- There is a gift shop inside the visitor center but it is small. They dont really have clothes more like books, postcards, and little nicknakes. I would definitely check out everything in the plaza though.
WALKING- You can walk to the Canyon Campground, the lodge, restraints, shopping, and showers/laundry. Plus you can walk around the museum.
MUSEUM- A spacious area with lots of information. Along with the museum there is a little movie...
