Ran down. Dirty. I don’t like how the animals are treated. The petting zoo is FILTHY. FILTHY. The poor animals have zero food or water. The conditions of the pens are filthy dirty, and small especially for the big peacocks they have. They didn’t even have room to spread out or turn around without feathers falling out actually chunks at a time while we stood and watched. The chicken they have is malnourished and its ankle was injured It kept limping in the enclosed area it was trapped in. The goats were physically fighting one another to the point it had blood on its back, fighting over the food WE provided. So that goes to show they were hungry. Every single female goat they had was pregnant, seems like they are pregnant every time I have gone. So they clearly bred constantly. The pigs had no wet mud, the area they were in was super small as well. The donkey had growths all over it. As we were leaving the animal control vehicle was pulling in so I’m assuming people are worried about the living conditions of these animals. The poor lambs had their wool all matted to the point it looked like it hurt for them to move because of how bad it was pulling. I mean MATTED IN KNOTS. As much as baughers charges for apples , they should be feeding their animals & giving them proper veterinary care! I have never seen such a dirty petting zoo. Also nobody is monitoring anything with the animals when people are in and out. This seems like it’s dangerous all in its own. As you can see in attached pics the animals are not happy. They are not approachable. All the food and water troughs are empty. Bowls are dirty and bone dry. Poop all over the place every inch you step!!! ...
Read moreSo I'm not a super overly protective father. I accept that in order for my daughter (2 year old) to have a normal childhood she needs to play and have fun. Which is why I tend to expect that within 10 seconds of entering a "petting zoo" she will not have a turkey peck and bite her in the face right next to her eye. But alas. This is what happened. She hadnt even touched it. When I told the teenager who is apparently the person to tell. He sighed and said he'd talk to the manager. When we left we could see the turkeys still there in the petting zoo an hour later. In retrospect I should have been more nervous after seeing the playground equipment, perilously perched near a steep hill leading to a freeway, had a sign that said "play at your own risk". Yeah. If you want to have battle scarred toddlers this is the orchard for you. If not try the local library or something on a...
Read moreWonderful set-up for individuals and families. Tractor ride to Orchard fun and scenic. If you don't pay to pick fruit you can't leave the tractor - you're allowed to ride only $3 pp. Smallest fruit bag is $13. Worth it anyway - more-so depending on your fruit preferences. Buy your petting zoo feed for the animals at the market - $1 per bag. More convenient that way. The slide, playground and animals at the zoo are free to access. Up close and personal. Some animals very aggressive- watch your fingers. Lots of fun. Wear sneakers (not sandals) - look...
