Holy Protection Monastery — Attraction in White Haven

A Heavenly Experience at Holy Protection Monastery. We recently traveled from New Jersey (me, my wife and our 2 daughters) to visit the Holy Protection Monastery in White Haven, PA. Our experience was nothing short of heavenly. The monastery itself is stunning, beautifully maintained, peaceful, and radiating a deep sense of spiritual calm. It truly felt like a piece of heaven on earth! We were blessed to be welcomed by the kind and humble sisters, who were extremely polite, gracious, and helpful in every way. They kindly provided us with accommodations for an overnight stay, which allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in the spiritual life of the monastery. We attended Esperinos on Saturday evening and the Divine Liturgy on Sunday morning. Both services were deeply moving and spiritually uplifting, an experience that words can hardly capture. Above all, we felt completely at home. The warmth, hospitality, and peaceful atmosphere made this visit one we will always remember. We are truly grateful and hope to return again soon. This is an amazingly beautiful place whose spark was placed here by a holy man who, inspired by God, planned more than a dozen such havens throughout the U.S. This, too, is a monastery and, as such, it is a place where people come who have left the comforts of this world to live, work, pray and draw continually closer to the living God. This Orthodox Monastic Community is beautiful. The monastics, under the care and direction of Gerontissa Olymiapa, are pious, humble, and hospitable. The grounds are wonderful, the bookstore well stocked, and services of worship sublime. I have stayed here. The meals and rooms are perfect for retreat guests.
