No idea how this is even have ratings of more than two stars. My guess is that their employee/s must have so much time in their hands to write their own positive reviews of such a terribly ran facility.
Here are just some of the problems: They want to charge a drive around their track for $12 for less than 6 minutes; one would think that shouldn't be a problem. BUT rental karts are beaten down, almost none in good enough condition that would pass any safety test.
They only have two rental karts "working" - if you call it that. Maybe a positive thing if they're not going to be safe to begin with.
Then the track, holy drive to the moon! Some parts is bumpy and unstable for any karts going more than 10mph (I doubt their rentals go that fast though), some parts of the track are so slick if you hit at a turn, good luck!
Then comes the customer service, well there's none! You can try to call for hours, and I doubt one will pick up.
If you take someone with you not racing, they'll have to stay in your car in the parking lot --- wait, there's no parking lot, so good luck with that too.If you want them to watch, they need to pay for insurance purposes - I wonder if this insurance/"safety policy" had something to do with the incident of a girl having her hair pulled completely out during the race --- track said then that they have safety videos you can watch to be safe; therefore, baring the responsibility to the driver, which is fine. But to be in this business, you can't stop at the video because seriously how many non-enthusiast/casual kart racer would do that? I say, go beyond to make sure the safety of your customers is well observed. I have been the facility a couple of times, neither of the occasion I have been there that I have seen them as concious about safety as they should be.
You have to pay extra couple of $$ for face rug for the helmet --- trust me, if those were brand new it is well-worthy! The helmets looked like they were ran over by some truck and just dirty and malfuntioning -- good luck if one fits you. Safety is no question, I didn't feel safe wearing those helmets.
So maybe I'm just upset about their terribly maintained rental kart and track, maybe the track would do fine with faster karts. Well, you need to pay $25 just to get your own kart in the track. You can do exactly the same thing at Cereland, about 30 minutes south for $3 a day -- just bring your own helmet and unlimited gas. The track is so much better condition. It's no comparison, night and day at the least - but that's just to give the Whiteland track credit...
Read moreI wrote this review below for the old management of Whiteland Raceway. It's under new management and huge improvements have been made to the facilities. I now encourage everyone to give it a try.
I have enjoyed this track in the past but they've managed to loose my business for good. Poorly run. I called ahead to make sure the track was both open and not too busy. Had to leave a message and they called me back. I was told it was clear. I immediately drove the half hour to get there only to be told they were having an "event" and I'd have to wait 2 hours. When I said I'd just called to check availability I was told the "event" was not scheduled, go have lunch and come back. Not a chance! For all my trouble they could have offered a discount or extra track time or something but shrugged it off as my tough luck. They've complained to me in the past how their business has struggled and I certainly see why. They even had my number and could have called to inform me of this surprise event if it did come up in the half hour it took me to get there. I'll make the drive to New Castle if I want to Kart again and hope Whiteland is eventually taken over by professional and courteous management. In the mean time I'll be telling everyone about this ridiculously infuriating experience. UPDATE: Went to New Castle Motor Sports Park and had an incredible time. Better Tracks, better carts, much better staff. Primary course has long straights for speed but the newer smaller course is very twisty and much more of a technical challenge. The young girl on staff there did her job well, looked out for safety and was very nice both to me and my wife who chose to be a spectator. GO...
Read moreHorrible karts, Horrible service, Terribly rude staff. Such a bad experience we just wanted to leave and get our money back, but they wouldn't even do that.
Here's my story:
This place was a total joke. I called ahead and asked if we needed reservations for a party of 5, and they said no. We arrive and they only have 3 karts...(maybe mention that on the phone..?). We decided to take turns on the 3 karts, and then one of the karts doesn't start. Only 2 karts now. I and a friend go ahead and take the last two working karts for a spin. I've raced at over 25 raceways around the nation and let me tell you... these things were in horrible shape. My throttle cable pulled through and I had no throttle about 5 min into it. We ended our own race early and tried to leave. We wanted refunds, as 3 of us didn't even get in a kart. They refused to give us refunds and when we raised some heat trying to get our money back they called the COPS on us. Do not ever...
