This hiking trail will be closed until the end of March 2017. It will reopen with restricted hours because of the abuse and damage less educated humans have caused. Parking at the site is for about 20 cars and street parking around the entrance to the trail is restricted and patrolled. Make sure you read all the signs and park accordingly. BUT if you ever come to Whittier and have the opportunity to hike these hills and reach the second of the 2 water towers you will find yourself among many people who have used this hills to get back in shape, gain self-confidence and their health back. This is not an easy hike by any means. I consider this a medium to strenuous hike depending on your health. See beyond the people, admire the hills and nature. There are many different types of birds and deer. You might spot a coyote or two. Stay on the trail because there has been reports of rattle snakes. On your way to the water tower you will be able to see the Buddhist Temple inside Rose Hills Cemetery property. On your way back stop and take a glance at the city and don't forget to take anything and everything you hiked...

Turnbull Canyon trails are a wonderful place to explore nature and have some fun. The trails offer a variety of options for hiking, mountain biking, and running, with different levels of difficulty and scenery. You can choose to follow the main trail to the water tower, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the city, or take one of the many side trails that lead to hidden gems, such as waterfalls, caves, and historical sites.

The trails are well-maintained and marked, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The trails are also dog-friendly, as long as you keep them on a leash. The wildlife is abundant and diverse, and you can spot many animals, such as deer, coyotes, rabbits, hawks, and more. The trails are also rich in history and mystery, and you can learn about the legends and stories that surround the canyon.

Turnbull Canyon trails are a great place to spend a day with your family or friends, or even by yourself. You will find peace and beauty in this natural oasis, and you will never get bored of the adventure. Turnbull Canyon trails are one of the best places to...

Turnbull is a nice beginners trail for the most part. Most of the trail is very mild uphill, only towards the end near the water tower is it any challenge, even then it's very short distance of steep incline. The views are nice weather permitting. You can clearly see DTLA and the SG mountains. If you have good eyes you can see Signal Hill. Parking is hard because they're is no immediate access to the trail, you'll have to try your luck at the Greenleaf/Turnbull area which is almost a mile away. For me this is a plus, keeps less dedicated crowds away, sorry, not sorry. You just have to be mindful while on the road as the sidewalk ends halfway to the trail. Other than that, it's a nice place, medium difficulty. Keep in mind there are no restrooms near trail and no water either, that's why I give it 4 stars. Given that you'll be there 2-3hrs at a casual pace, then you should take care of business before...

I really liked this hiking trail. It says its moderate, but I'm not going to lie...it was pretty tough. Lots of uphill. The view is great at the top. It can be a busy trail. We got there kinda late so many people were ending their walks, but several were still hiking. Parking can be tough as there isnt much space and the neighborhood is permit only. After the neighborhood the permit only stops and you might get lucky and find a spot; inbetween the neighborhood and the hiking trail. We took our dog. He loved it also. We saw a tarantula in a ditch on the trail. It was dark before we finished. Take a flashlight and water.

Allegedly haunted hiking trails with an ascent to a water tower. On a clear day, you can see downtown LA. It’s mostly exposed with limited shade. No restrooms available on the premises. Parking is difficult as much of the residential neighborhood is permit-only; there are a few spots located at the trailhead, but if it’s busy, you may need to park several blocks away. Came here in the morning on Thanksgiving most recently and there were a fair amount of bikers and hikers. The lollipop route we did was about four miles total. Dogs are allowed in the trail. It’s a kid-friendly hike.
