This place is AMAZING!! So glad the city chose to preserve the first house of Whittier!! Everything is authentic with original furnishing. The ladies provide informative tours about The Old Ranch House! I can't believe they found an unused bar of Grandpa's Pine Tar Soap!!! When they raised the house from its foundation they found all sorts of historical items and one of them was soap!! Lots of door knobs and old grooming products! I just with they would have preserve the entire street!!! That would have been awesome!!

After finding out a piece of me that I could never imagine after getting a confirmation making sure everything was 100% true. Being the fourth great grandfather of Jonathan and Rebecca Bailey. And I wanted to get a sense of who they were what they really like maybe get a feeling of sense of them or something and this house does that anymore. I got to learn a lot about my family history and the beautiful history of Whittier. It was like when the city was founded how everyone lived during this thanks to one of the docents I was able to connect with the third cousin that confirms everything which I could never thank her enough for. If you want to go back in time and really learn about the roots of History of Whittier and go back in time to those times. Then this is the place for you. The docents here I really love what they're doing and it shows in their tours. There are no wrong questions with them. I left here with my heart fuller than ever( happy tears / tears of gratitude)and a beautiful sense of pride for our city. One big fun fact that I actually learned about myself is that I have the founders dimples and the exact same way he had them, one big dimple on one side of my face and a small one on the other side of it. My grandfather would be proud of how beautifully the Docents have reserved this house and how beautifully they represent him ,our family and most of all our city's history. Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you 🙏🏼...

IF you saw " A million ways to die in the west" you could relate to Jonathan Bailey, he was 1 of the first ranchers in Whittier raising sheep for wool and food. His family was a pioneer in the Victorian era helping the underground railroad freeing slaves as a Quaker, being an Abolitionists and Pacifist in Ohio he followed Jhon Greenleaf Whittier a Quaker to go west and put your shining light up on a hill to share the Gospel. Rasing his family in the new found town of Whittier, his ranch house 🏠 one of the first to have indoor plumbing. He and his wife met Abraham Lincoln, and had Acquired one of Lincoln's law library booksheve cases on display at his ranch home. was a community leader and met Friends at the Norwalk Train depot to greet them to...
