We stayed in room 5 for only one night (fortunately). The temperature dropped unusually low this morning (7°F), and the A/C struggled to keep the room warm. To be precise, it simply didn’t manage to. The temperature during the night maxed out at 63°F. It didn’t help that after the children jumped into the bathtub (which was leaking), the hot water also ran out, so we, the parents, didn’t get a warm bath in the evening. The door was hanging so much that I could almost fit my pinky in the gap. I have a strong feeling this didn’t help the A/C warm up the room either—nor did the window, which was of the same quality. The whole room is old and clearly hasn’t been renovated in at least two decades. The good thing is that, in a way, it fits the whole Route 66 theme. :) I can’t comment on noise insulation, because this room doesn’t have any. We could CLEARLY hear and understand everything our neighbors were talking about. In the morning, when we were checking out, we were asked whether everything was OK. We explained that we were a "bit" cold. The response was that she believed us but couldn’t do anything about it—this night had indeed been a cold one. After checking out, we got a call informing us that she had checked, and the A/C was working properly and there was hot water. We agreed—the A/C was working during the night; the only problem was that its performance wasn’t enough to warm the room above 63-64°F. And yes, there was warm water again in the morning. The issue was in the evening when it ran out. And yes, we didn’t report it at the evening —we were already cold enough in a 63-64°F room, didn’t want to go out into the mud, and still had hope that the A/C would do its job, but to no avail. My advice? Stay in Page when visiting the Grand Canyon—it has a much larger selection of accommodations, meaning more competition. Today, we are staying in an inn at Page that has a pool, warmth, hot water, WAY better comfort, a room twice the size, breakfast, and the price is only $2 more. Compared to this, the one in Williams had a terrible price-to-value ratio. For half the price, this would have been a 4-star review instead of a 2-star one. To end on a positive note: the room and bedsheets were clean, the Wi-Fi was fine, and check-in went smoothly—no complaints there.

We love Williams and we stay there at least twice per year. We stayed at the end of December so we could spend the day at Canyon Coaster. We knew the room was going to be old and outdated since it's "historical" and we had seen the pics online. This was fine and was expected. We rented the Deluxe Double Room. It had two full sized beds and both beds had a top sheet and a thin blanket. There was only one comforter in the room. Luckily we had brought sleeping bags, just in case. The heater did work well but only one comforter for two beds was weird. It got worse. After a shower, my husband noticed that the towels and wash cloths smelled terribly like mildew. Which likely means they weren't bleached, which is gross. There were two chairs in the room and you couldn't use either. One was falling apart and the other was heavily stained, or moldy? (Pics below) (The balloon was ours, it was my husband's birthday) There was a tiny coffee pot in the room, it was very dirty so I cleaned it and then realized there was no coffee in the room to make. The office doesn't open until 8am ish. I went to the office at 8:15am and they hadn't made coffee yet. While the exterior walls are solid, there were huge gaps in the door frame and there are doors connecting the rooms that are so thin, you could hear everything that was going on next door. Every cough, their conversation, their tv. When they, or we, opened our front door, it created a bit of suction that would rattle that joining door very loudly. We paid over $150 for that room and it was worth half that, at most. We haven't stayed in the rail cars or the cabins, which do look lovely, so I can't speak to their quality. I understand there is only so much that can be done to these rooms so that they can keep their historical label but, there is no excuse for dirty towels and two broken chairs. I definitely do not recommend that you stay in the deluxe Double Rooms.

Not as advertised - would not recommend! Memorial Day weekend - After being chastised for not following the instructions on parking sign, we were told our rooms wouldn't be ready for about an hour. No worries, we would be back shortly. When we were able to check in, we went to the converted caboose and noticed there weren't enough beds for our crew and one of the beds was an old lumpy futon (bed, futon and kitchen all in the same small space). We were told we gave them the wrong info when we booked. When I let her listen to the message from them asking about the age of the child with us so they could move us if needed, the lady at the desk said it wasn't her fault and she couldn't be held accountable. We weren't looking to blame anyone, we just wanted someplace to stay, that's why we made a reservation!!! Another staff member came in during our conversation and said they would let us have two rooms that would accomodate us - Thank you!. The original lady said they would have to charge an extra fee. They still needed to be cleaned and they would call us when they were ready. Phew, that was a relief - imagine trying to find a place to stay on Memorial day weekend! Around 7pm that night (4 hours after we first got there), we got a message saying the rooms were not going to be ready and they were just going to cancel our reservation. They just decided they weren't going to honor the reservation and left us stranded. OH, did I mention she was bad mouthing a local restaurant when she checked people in - big X on the map . We found out they were mad at the restaurant because they tried to buy the campground and clean it up because it is such a dump! The restaurant was fantastic BTW. Plenty of nice places to stay in the area (when you have a reservation), would not recommend staying here.

(Update situation resolved. Thank you MGMT. My wife told me, and I appreciate your prompt response to let my wife and I know you cared enough about us to let us know our business mattered to you. Thank you) My wife booked us reservations September 10-12 because she wanted to go to Bearazona in Williams, Arizona. My name is Anthony Stahmer and I am a 100% Disabled Veteran from the Navy and we arrived on the 10th of Sept. Checked in around 3pm. Excellent customer and we really liked the layout of the place. It was like going back in time. We were given #6 with the Ford bench out front to sit to smoke or just sit and noticed the the garbage can not being dumped of cigarette butts and the bench was rather weathered and needed to be replaced with new wood at least to make it look nicer, but it was what it was I told my wife and we stepped inside our motel room. When my wife first walked in she came out and told me how cute it was and I was well ok whatever like most guys do because we want our wives happy right. I brought the bags in. I noticed the room was clean except for the carpet which looked rather dark and dirty but figured it was just stained blue carpet as it was from the 1940's. I didn't think it was dirt, as this was a motel room right? Well....My wife and I go to Safeway to get some Off because the mosquitoes were crazy. We were getting eaten alive, and I was trying to make the best of it. The lady Lilly who works there was so nice and even offered some of her Off which I thought was very nice and she said I could find some at Safeway that is why we went. On September 11th day after we checked in we went to Bearazona wild animal park to see the animals, went to eat. Came back to our room. Took a shower, and I walked out of my shower across carpet to answer my cell, and was just walking back and forth for about 20 minutes. Hung up cell. Walked in bathroom. Felt something grimy on bottom of my feet, and looked. To my surprise. My feet were black. Filthy, dirty black and my wife got grossed out at how filthy the carpet was compared to how clean the rest of the room was. There is no excuse in my eyes to own a motel and not shampoo their carpets. Vacuuming only doesn't cut it when you have a business. We packed up our truck and I walked up to office told the lady about us checking out and why we were checking out and first thing she said was it was past 3 pm and thatI wouldn't be able to get a refund. I said whoah wait a min. I wasn't asking for day when we checked in. I said I was leaving day after day, we checked in because the carpet is filthy, and and all she did was come up with excuses about how how I didn't tell her when we checked in and that she had to talk to the manager, and I said yeah, the owner, and she said the manager doesnt give refunds. Even if the room is filthy? My god last night we drove up and checked in to our room after we ate. Went to bed, got up, went to Bearazona in Williams, Arizona took shower day after to find out they don't shampoo their carpets, and the excuse she gave was the carpets are old and that they do vacuum which, yes everything else was fine. The lady was so nice when we first checked in , and Lilly is so nice who works at night. I was so surprised at the lady who works I guess in morning shift because she was there before 4pm today so whoever that is she is the one who tried to give me excuses till I told her to please not play that with me. That is not good business. What is so hard to shampoo the carpets, or even replace them. They seem to always be packed? This is what surprised how I was treated today. She should have at least apologized for the rooms carpet being filthy, but I guess if she already knew about it then whats the point right? Maybe that was the reason she kept saying she had to ask her manager. Where is the manager? Why didn't she get the manager and try to at least resolve my issue with even an...

When we decided to go to Williams to take the train to the Grand Canyon and stay at this unique, historic motel built in the 1940s on Route 66, we were pretty excited for this motel to be a part of our group’s adventure. Their website stated that all rooms have been updated and renovated. Whomever built this motel in the 1940s had a great idea with the clusters of rooms out off of Route 66 and not in the middle of all the other motels. Apparently, the new owners profess they are working on updating and renovating this unique and quaint motel. They might have the right idea, but the execution of their plans is not going well or at least it appears the renovations are haphazardly done.||So this is a tough review to write because our group of six people staying in three rooms did not get the updated and renovated stay that we looked forward too. All three rooms requested AC in our rooms and only two of the three rooms had AC. The married couple in our group had a fairly good stay in their room with AC. My friend's and my stay was fairly uneventful, room had AC, ceiling fan didn’t work, and room's condition was worn out but acceptable. I say acceptable for a room that wasn’t updated or renovated. The bathroom door could not be properly closed for privacy. There should have been two properly sized chairs to use the table inside the room. There was no tissues or enough toilet paper in the room. More was requested, but not sent over. I had to borrow tissues from one of my friends.||Now for the fiasco for my other two friends. They were put in Room #2 that had no AC even though it was requested and confirmed for Room #15 with AC via email and a phone call prior to us arriving. When she was told that they couldn't accommodate her, my friend was also told, "If you don't like your room, you can go somewhere else." Our group was quite shocked to hear this coming from, which we found out later was, the owner's wife. This would have meant our entire group would have had to try and find three rooms in Williams where the other motels were. In trying to work out the accommodations for my friend, the owner gave her the room in Caboose #1 and we moved her. Then they told her they were moving her again because the AC Caboose #1 was not supposed to be there. So she had to wait about an hour in my room for Room #16 to be cleaned. They were also told by the owner’s wife after they moved them to Room #16, that she better not hear any complaints from them about the room. Who does this? Why do this? On the morning of our departure, my friend had to shower with no hot water. And yes my friend told the lady that there was no hot water for her shower upon leaving. So needless to say, staying at this Historic Motel with updated and renovated rooms was not the best part of our “Let’s Take a Train to the Grand Canyon Adventure.” A final odd occurrence with this motel happened when I received a Thank you for your payment email from the motel at 11:30 a.m. before we even checked in to the motel. So if you stay here, make sure you are fully informed on the room you get as they will move you without notifying you even after your room has been confirmed. You also may not be getting that full updated or renovated room they boasted about on...

Concentration Camp ?

This is the worst RV park I have ever experienced. My family needed a location that would accommodate a trailer, tent camping, and a dwelling for a three generation Father's day celebration. To begin, My 85 year old Father was scolded for parking in a no parking zone. (very limited locations to park). Next, we thought the A/C was not working in the "cottages". When we inquired at the office they replied, you must be in one with no A/C. The staff said you have to ask if you want A/C ... are you kidding ... NO A/C in Arizona ! Their website does NOT indicate that some units do not have A/C. The other issue was the showers alternate between Hot & Cold without touching the handles. The high cost and the lack of electricity at the tent camping sites was absurd. Most of the sites have electrical boxes/outlets, with lights on the top but do NOT work. The staff said those were not intended for tent campers to use. The RV sites and the roadways are nothing but dirt & dust. There is NO grass around the RV sites the areas contain noxious weeds that have burs. These burs attach to your shoes and if you bring a dog they attach to your dogs paws & hair. They are difficult to remove. Furthermore, this is not a dog friendly park, There is NO place for your dog to relieve themselves. Staff recommends you take them into the forest areas. I discovered that these areas have a considerable amount of cactus that can be overlooked. My adult son was chased by staff in a golf cart for driving the wrong way. He was contacted by the rude male employee who stated, Didn't you get a map ! The facility has surveillance cameras everywhere, To include but not limited to, The pool, laundry room and fire pit patio area. A sign with condescending verbiage is posted near the door lock to the shower & laundry area. Labels appear on external electrical outlets prohibiting person use. I was unaware that a sewer line support system is required, but they sure let me know ... I received a notice stuck to my RV door ! Upon returning from Bearizona I noticed an employee placing some type of violation notice on my neighbors vehicle. The guy refused to move his golf cart so I could back into my parking spot. After an unreasonable length of time he finally inched the golf cart forward so I wouldn't hit the cart. I was contacted by a neighbor the next morning who asked if my electricity was turned off while I was gone. He explained he found his power was shut off when he returned and so was the power for the people in the RV site next to him. I told him my was not and I was glad because we left our dog inside while we were away. The gentleman was very upset because his dog was inside as well. He had an outdoor kitchen with a fridge and as a result the contents became hot. He believed the staff turned off his power for an unknown but was not notified. The temp reached 89 that day. The staff spends to much time being micro managers and not enough time making guests feel welcome. The grounds need significant improvement and so do the structures. A good start might be planting grass and eliminating the weeds then adding more gravel to the...
