Rails To Trails Inc — Attraction in Williamsburg

Like other rail trails, this was a very level travel surface. Most of the 4.5 mile section that we covered was paved, with the remainder being gravel. The entire section had a mowed grass pathway for horses.

The trail was very well maintained, and someone had recently planted native trees all along the river adjacent to the trail.

There were ruins of old canal infrastructure in many places, usually with explanatory signs, as well as mile markers along the way.

Wonderful way to go outside and get fresh air and a little exercise. Beautiful well-kept trails although I will say they could do a little bit better with cleanup in the spring...

Great place for walking and bike riding for yourself and/or entire family. Excellent maintenance on trails as the volunteers do a fantastic job. We love visiting...
