We stumbled upon the website for The Trustees when we were looking for a way to pass some time and found the Mountain Meadow on our route. Amazing spot to view a native meadow. Great well-maintained trails throughout the property. If you like wildflowers, hiking, ecology, or just want a quiet place to hike, this is a great stop.

Cute little nature preserve with some easy to moderate hiking trails. Meadow loop is very easy, anyone of all ages can do it, but the ground is a bit uneven. Tons of butterflies when the milkweed is blooming. A variety of birds to watch. The summit trail can be really steep at parts.

Nice quiet spot. Easy to locate. Make sure you bring plenty of bug spray! The Flys can be awful. Some trails are really steep.

We were staying at the Villager Motel nearby, a good place for cheap and cheerful access to Williamstown and environs and noticed this ToR property almost across the street. It was wonderful on a wintry day for exploring. We wandered up into Vermont and back. We avoided the Summit trail on the way up, but I chose it on the way back, wearing my microspikes for traction - and I'm glad I did. Though the 'summit' isn't open, you can just about see through the trees. Best views are in the meadow's high spot. The ruins of the 'camp' are worth seeing, too. There must have been a great view from there with fewer trees. We spent about 2.5 hours here and trudged a happy 3-4 miles, using walking sticks and...

I can see how this preserve could be spectacular at certain times, but today wasn’t itsday.

The meadow was short, scrubby, and freshly mown yet the grass on the trail was long. It looked like where I would go to take photos to illustrate an educational brochure on Lyme Disease.

I decided to turn around and leave less than a mile into my planned 4-mile hike. And did a thorough tick check...
