We had an absolute blast yesterday (7/3/22) on our first adventure with Wimberly Zipline!!!

They have a great setting in the Hill Country with beautiful panoramic views once you get up into the course.  Must say it would have been even nicer had it not been 100 degrees at 1pm but the entire staff & group made the very best of the circumstances and Wimberly Zipline had multiple watering stations throughout the course to cool down & keep everyone hydrated.

The Welcome Station where you check is a short but easy walk from the parking area.  The only bathroom facilities are at the parking area so it's a good idea to "go" before you make the walk because there are no facilities on the course.  But if nature calls during the adventure, the staff said men can just find a hidden spot to go and one of the female staffers would walk the ladies to a secluded spot to take care of business.  Again, it is a good idea to take care of things in the parking area before you go.

From the minute you arrive at the Welcome Center you will discover a very friendly & professional staff that is excited you are there & are eager to make your experience a fun one.  Check in is simply completing a 1 page waiver document, deciding if you want to upgrade to helmet with video camera, & then getting fitted with your harness & helmet.  They even provide a full bottle of water that is clipped to your harness which was a really nice bonus to start things off.

Your group then proceeds to the training area where the team of guides explains how the equipment works, safety guidelines, how to ride the line, & most important of all how to break.  Every member of the group then does a very short test run where they get to put into practice what they were just taught and once everyone passes the test they put everyone in a transport vehicle to head up the hill.

Once the ride is over, there is a short climb up to the first line.  My portion of the larger group was made up of 4 people between ages of 58 & 60 who thought we were all in pretty good shape but not as good as we thought...lol.  The few climbs throughout the course are not really long or that difficult but a couple of them proved to be a little hard for a few of us.  Not real sure if that was mainly due to the extreme heat & small altitude change compared to what we are used to, or if we are just old & out of shape  but the challenges of those few climbs in no way diminished the overall fun of our adventure and 9nly post this so others in our age group know in advance.

Our real adventure began once we reached the first line.  Like snowskiiing, we began at the short Bunny Run to get a feel of what we were doing then quickly progressed to longer & faster lines with each one proving to be a little more exciting than the last one.  Your guide will tell you that the best of the runs are the last 3 and trust them on that because those are definitely the fastest, most exhilarating, and most fun zips on the course!!

Sadly, because I am old & forgetful, not 100% sure I have her name right here 1 day later, but think our main guides name was Kayley (young lady in the pic of the 4 of us).  She was fantastic in communicating with us all along the way & kept is laughing with her humor.  Unfortunately, did not catch the other names of the staff but everyone was great at their roles, very friendly & helpful, and each played a big role in making our day a great one.

So if you are ever in the area of Wimberly & Dripping Springs and are looking for a fun & exciting adventure, highly recommend Wimberly Zipline where you will find a professional & friendly staff committed to making sure you have fun.  They certainly accomplished that goal for me & my friends and feel confident they will do the same for...

A great way to spend the day with a little bit of hiking, some great views and a whole lotta’ fun!

First off, their website and the follow up emails they send you have great information for what to expect and how to get there. Definitely pay attention to that, and have it handy when you drive out there.

There is a small walk through a very pretty trail from the parking area to the Welcome Center. The only restroom is at the parking lot, not the Welcome Center. Plan ahead unless you want to venture into the scrub while everyone in your group waits on you. Once you check in and sign the waivers, assign you to a group and they gear you up. You go over to a zip line about 40 feet long. This is where you’ll do a wee bit of training and a practice run, about 18 inches above the ground.

Once that is done, you’ll hop into one of their trucks to drive up the mountain a bit. It can be a crazy bumpy ride, but it’s safe. Just have fun and enjoy the jostling around. From there you will hike with your group to the first line. It’s called the bunny run, and it’s a great training run.

The next several runs are basically back and forth across the canyon. The scenery is amazing, so please take the time to enjoy what’s around you when you are on the zip line, and while you are hiking or waiting around.

The last five runs are closer to the ground and more in the trees. There is also a run or two that, while shorter is also much faster! You end up with a variety of experiences: long runs a hundred feet above the ground and then quick runs between the trees.

Some of the lines are single lines with a small walk or hike between them. Then you have a few two-fers. You’ll zip down to a landing where Zach is waiting to unhook you from one line and hook you right back up to another and send you on your way.

The guides are young, knowledgeable and intent on you having a good time. Justin kept playlist going while we waited, taking requests. Kate was always encouraging at the landings where she would catch us. And Van, he had the ability to work the gear so effortlessly that you just knew you were in safe, competent hands.

It takes a total of about two hours. There’s the gearing up and training, travel up the mountain, a bit of hiking here and there, plus the ziplines themselves. There’s free water at the Welcome Center as well as a few stops up in the ziplines. They have places with chairs for you to rest a bit while waiting for the others in your group.

This is a really safe adventure, but it does require a little physical exertion. And please be ready to have fun with your guides. They have a million bad jokes about zip lining, but they only go through them if you’re engaged and ready to have fun! Oh, and be ready to take a bit of abuse if you are left-handed!

Seriously, it’s all in good fun, and you will have a great time. When you are done, head into Wimberly for a meal or snacks or drinks, and talk about your favorite lines and the...

Oh. My. Goodness. What an amazing place. I didn’t exactly know what to expect - I started by being incredibly surprised by TJ, the man who manages eeeeveeyrhing- he took time to give me directions, over the phone, and give me a quick tour of what I was to expect. When we arrived, Justin, Lexi, and Cailey - were the dream team.

They took the time to teach the group how to gracefully glide, how to break, how to keep aaallll of our fingers post gliding. Justin is funny!!! There’s a smart witty remark with everything, putting your mind at ease. He doubles up as a picture taker too. In regards to his choice in music though….Soooo, where were we? Cailey - tirelessly working to make sure alll of us arrived safely between the zip lines. Oh, she also knows all the terrain shortcuts, so you could try to keep up, if you dare! Music choice - Cailey is my nr 1. And then, there’s Lexi - she is cool and composed, and has some great stories. She also impressed me by repeatedly helping one of our team mates who never exactly got the memo that you land on your feet, more so than your behind. Cool guy though, he was a trooper - Lexi’s laid back attitude surely helped. Music choice - Lexi’ is just behind Cailey.

I will definitely go out and make friends, so I can bring them here.

The 10 ziplines were impressive. My fav one was longer than 3 football fields, dangling who knows how high up in the air. It was zero scary. You are SO safe, all you have to do is sit back and enjoy the ride. And maybe scream a bit, just because, or maybe to see whether it echoes back (it doesn’t). Some of the lines are grouped together making them incredibly fun. If you think about it, just go ahead and try it!

What a fantastic day. Dream team. Dream ziplines. Don’t hesitate coming. It’s...
