This was, unfortunately, my worst tubing experience. The biggest issue: this place has no real plan to help in urgent situations like sudden thunderstorms. Actually, they will attempt to gaslight you based on whats on the radar, instead of admitting they already received calls on the river about dangerous conditions and not even walk outside to see the thunder and lightning storm while it was there.
After being dropped off, it took nearly an hour just to swim out of the let-off area before even getting into the current. By then, torrential rain, lightning, and thunder had started. We waited about 30 minutes, got back in, and the storms continued. I called multiple times, but was told “we don’t see it on the radar” and that even if it thundered and poured, the only option was to hurry back because they had no way of helping us. I even asked them to just step outside and look — the storm was obvious.
What made this worse is that while I was calling, they continued sending more groups out, at least three more loads of kayakers and rafters, even as lightning and downpours were ongoing. The full trip ended up taking over 5 hours in unsafe, miserable conditions.
On the river, it felt dangerous. Lightning would pause just long enough for us to get back in, then start again. Temps dropped quickly, and we had no paddles or way to control the tubes. Thankfully, another family with rafts let us hold on, which was the only reason we made it downstream safely.
By the end, the company sent ATVs near the exit, but that was little help after hours of exposure. When we got back, there was no concern, no apology, just a couple of towels tossed at us.
Bottom line: This business does not have a safety plan for storms and will not come out to assist you. Worse, they kept sending customers out into dangerous weather long after it was clear conditions were unsafe. Terrible customer service, zero care for...
Read moreThis review is not about their service, or their equipment this review is about how they conduct themselves at the public boat launches they use when they are putting people in and out of the water at Sumner Falls, Vermont, and Cornish Boat landing, NH. That they pull up when there is multiple people in their vehicles trying to come and go blocking the entrance with their vans, trailer’s and equipment, that while they are unloading they place the kayak’s and blow up rafts in the middle of the driveway so there is absolutely no room for any other vehicles to get in or out while they are unloading all of the equipment which yesterday on July 4th took them approximately 40 minutes while the whole time blocking the entry way for cars coming and going. This has happened multiple times over the last couple years as I’ve dealt with them as I’m an avid kayaker and sometimes use these boat launches 2-3 times a week myself. There is an etiquette that people with common sense use when they are at public boat launche, that we get ourselves and equipment off of our vehicles and into the water as fast as possible without blocking the next person, because sometimes these boat launches are very crowded areas and we even help each other sometimes to do so so no one is waiting or in the way for 30-40 minutes at a time. Please have some courtesy and know that this is a public boat launch, and not just your personal business...
Read moreI will start out by saying my friend and I had looked forward to visiting here for a few years and FINALLY made it today. It was a cloudy/showers type of day for Memorial Day but it was still beautiful! We did the whole path of life and enjoyed reading the descriptions on the pamphlet. Where we had a problem is your employee took our entrance fee and nicely explained how it worked and sent us on our way. We started at 1:30 pm and finished at 2:40 after taking a trip to the River at the end. We made our way back and were met with a locked door in the back, a broken gate that said “do not use” and gate on the other side closed! We had to limbo under the far gate and walk around the front of the building to our car. It is concerning that when the employee took our fee that she did not tell us they were closing soon. Here we were all alone roaming the grounds not know she had closed up shop and left us out there! Luckily nothing happened but I would suggest that an employee tell visitors that they were closing at a certain time or soon! We really enjoyed the story and the statues and such but being left with no way to exit was not how we wanted our trip there to end. Just a suggestion to have your employees to communicate the closing time especially if someone is paying to go in any time...
