Newton Park — Attraction in Winter Garden

Super super nice!

What I went exploring to find new parks. This one is really nice. There is so much to see! I didn't walk a lot of the park but from the little part I was in I really like the views. There is a playground, a boat launch and also benches along the walk and a pier (is that what it is called). This is by Lake Apopka and so the park is on the waters looking really nice.

Environment Very nice environment, there is water to see and enjoy the sunshine. I was able to lay out on the nice nice grass enjoying the winds and breezes with the sun. Really relaxing. At first, I thought that parking was limited but there is plenty of parking nearer to the playground and launch area.

Niceness of the place... I didn't have interaction with any staff so I will talk more about the niceness of the place. It is really nice place and I can see that it can get packed quickly. There is a path to walk but it is quite narrow, not as wide as the trail... Probably not fit to run there...

This is a couple blocks square city park that sits on Lake Apopka in Winter Garden. There are large grassy areas, numerous benches, and a playground. (The playground is set off so there are also places for adults to sit and enjoy peaceful lakefront.) Great place to watch the sunset and you can sometimes see gators at the water's edge. There is a long pier where you can walk over the water on the lake and sit on the end. But there isn't any camping. There is a large pool, but it is often closed except limited summertime hours. That's my biggest complaint about this park -- they gave a beautiful pool that is almost useless to residents, which is a shame and a waste. The park is also about a mile or so from the west orange trail, which is a very long biking and running trail that runs through several nearby small towns. That's a short bike ride or drive away. Nice place to place. One slide is cracked so be careful and if you don't like sand, don't go here because there's sand all over this particular playground. However, lovely view of the lake and the breeze is nice. Out of the way of the busier parks, and has some benches for the adults to sit if you have older kids. There's a small kids area and a larger kids play area so something for everyone and also has swings for all ages. If you go near the water... Please be weary of alligators as they like to hid in the tall grass near the edge of the lake! Take your little ones by the hand and steer them clear of that area. Adults should walk on the inside while holding little ones with their outside hand away from the lake. I see kids all the time running near the water and I have a heart attack.
