At the park a commemorative stone is placed to describe the heroic efforts of Captain Carlsen. It read as follows :
Captain Kurt Carlsen s.s. Flying Enterprise January 10th 1952 In December 1951, the S.S. Flying Enterprise was hit by a severe storm in the North Atlantic. Pummeled by the rough seas, the ship broke up and started to list. Captain Carlsen stayed with his stricken ship for 13 days and received worldwide recognition for his heroic efforts in a storm classified as one of the worst of the century. The s.s. Flying Enterprise was finally lost to the sea on January 10th, 1952 - 16:15 GMT. Danish born Captain Carlsen was a resident of Woodbridge for nearly 50 years. Besides his ordeal in 1952, which caught the world’s attention, Captain Carlsen was a US Merchant Marine Captain during WWII and made several successful Atlantic Convoy crossings aiding the Allied Forces efforts in the war torn Europe. This stone is set here to remember a great man and an outstanding skipper. He offered the world an example of stubborn courage, steadfast loyalty to his responsibilities and devotions to the traditions of his calling. An example to us all.

And like most spots like this theres always 1 guy that has to take up half the room with his 4 or 5 fishing poles. Its like trying to go crabbing off a crabbing bridge. Theres always 1 guy with 20 traps just being a selfish waste of breath.
So, like most things in life it would be great if it werent for a few...

When mornings are good, evenings are even better with shiny sunset and gorgeous sky colors. Touch your feet with water. Best place for seniors citizens. Just at a walkable distance there is a small activity zone for kids. Swings, slides and all. Surprisingly, there are bikes places very recently. Use a simple app to unlock the bike and roam around free of cost. Simply loved this place to spend the good family time......
