Shagg Pond — Attraction in Woodstock

The lake and mountains are beautiful. The sky at night is breathtaking, I've never seen so many stars!!! There are lots of bullfrogs who "sing" all night long. There was a family of loons when we were there. We also saw a lovely family of ducks. QClose by, in the mountains, is a spring fed smaller pond with clear water and rocks for jumping off (just beware of skinny dippers over there). Great hiking trails around the mountain as well. Minor drawbacks: about 45 minutes to groceries at the Walmart. Same distance for the hospital/clinic. There were leaches in the shallows. You were fine as long as you jumped off the dock and came in at the end of the dock. Otherwise I definitely would have given a 5...
