FOR THOSE CONFUSED ON DIRECTIONS: the maps and the indicators on the trail itself are not accurate. We started on the west parking lot and yet the map (first image) told us we were located on the East side. We realized later on that the cascading waters we thought we would reach at the end were actually the waters we saw within the first 10 minutes.
We didn’t take an image of the map which was a mistake but the directions seemed simple enough. We would take the blue circles until we hit the orange squares. Luckily we pulled up a review with the map but immediately got confused. The “north” on the map was actually our “west” and we were turning right rather than the left the map told us we would.
We get to the east side parking lot, look at the map and realize it has the same “you are here” indicator as the one on the map where we started. And to get back, the map showed yellow rectangles but the marks on the trees were white triangles.
Overall, the trail itself was okay, but the experience of feeling like we were going insane trying to figure out where we were and how to get back to our car took away from the experience.
I’ve placed 3 images of different maps we saw at different points on the trail. The two that are the same are both in east and west parking lots, but with the actual orientation of the trails, they are more like north and south parking lots. Hopefully this helps others who are likewise confused.
Beside the directional criticisms, this was a nice trail that took us about an hour to get through. The cascading waters were a slight letdown since there...
Read moreLooks like they have a number of trails you can go up on and even a few locations you can park. The GPS brought me in at the bottom entry that had a little bit of parking. Overall, I can see how this could be nice to check out. Unfortunately, the water was all dried up, and their was not Cascading Waters, just a dry creek bed. Even though it's has rained in the past few days on and off. Some of the potholes on the bridge were filled with water. The trail itself is very rocky. There are lots of protruding rocks that you can easily twist an ankle or trip over. It's kind of a hike up, which wasn't much of an issue, but you really have to pay attention to your footing. In the mosquitoes were absolutely horrible. So make sure you bring some off or some sort of repellent because they were just buzzing and swarming everywhere. I was really disappointed. I was looking forward to seeing the little waterfalls in running water. I didn't go all the way to the top just because it was...
Read moreGreat place to grab a short hike in what feels like a very remote area. If you only want to see the waterfall it's about 100 yards from the Cascading Waters trailhead parking lot.
From the falls the path has a steep incline until you reach the top of the falls and then levels out for the rest of the trail. This loop is clearly marked with blue marks approximately every 20 feet until you reach the Cascade East parking then continues with white markers which lead right back to the falls. But you don't come back down the steep path.
This trail does have some roots and rocks on it so be aware as you walk. It's easy to trip up due to the leaves covering them.
Also, Cascade Waters parking is very small, holding 5 small cars at most. Be sure to get here early during warm days...
